  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

He took a loaf of bread,
and when he had given thanks,
he broke it and gave it to them, saying .... (Luke 22:19)

What did he give thanks for? For the bread? Just as I give thanks before meal?

Jesus said he anxiously waited for the Passover meal (v. 15). He was not giving thanks for the bread. He was giving thanks to the Father for giving him the honor of serving the mankind, by giving himself up.

Jesus went up to the cross in thanksgiving. My God took it a privilege to serve me by dying on the cross for me.

And he did the same with the cup after supper, saying... (v. 20)

As I eat bread and wine, I remember his Passover meal, I remember his thanksgiving, and I remember his love for me. Thanksgiving fills my heart as I kneel in submission.

Do this in remembrance of me. (v.19)

Lord,
Every time I kneel before you for bread and wine, thanksgiving fills my heart and soul. It did not come from me. It came from above. You placed it within me, so that I can remember you, your love, your thanksgiving, and your submission to your Father.

Lord,
Every time I take bread and wine, I remember you through thanksgiving. Let all knees fall before you in thanksgiving, for you alone are our Savior. Amen.

For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup,
you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes. (1 Corinthians 11:26)

What is proclaiming the Lord's death?
It is to remember that I joined the Lord's death,
and that all my darkness is put to his death.

Oh, my soul,
How then do I still find thoughts and deeds of darkness in you?
Isn't once enough and Christ must die twice for you?
Do you not know that when Christ returns, he will not die again?
Do you not know that he returns to judge those who are in darkness?
Why do I still smell death in you?
How can death and life be together in your body?

Oh, my soul,
Purify yourself.
Keep your body holy for a living sacrifice,
a pleasing odor to God.

Lord,
Help me.
Let it be etched into my soul that I died into your death,
so that all hosts of the heaven may know that I live in your life. Amen.
