1) How long did the Hundred Years War last?

116 years: 1338-1453, though a formal peace treated was first signed much later (don't recall when).

Edit: a peace treaty was signed in 1492, but only a very legalist formalist would take that as the ending year.

2) Which country makes Panama hats?

Equador.

4) In which month do Russians celebrate the October Revolution?

November - after the revolution the calender was changed from Julian to Gregorian, so while the revolution took place in October, it ended in November.

5) What is a camel's hairbrush made of?

I didn't know that camels use hairbrushes.

6) The Canary Islands in the Pacific are named after what animal?

Ooh, dunno, I only know about the Canary Islands in the Atlantic.

7) What was King George VI's first name?

If it wasn't "George", it was something else.

8) What color is a purple finch?

Well, according to:

http://www.mbr-pwrc.usgs.gov/id/framlst/i5170id.html

Male:
  • Purplish-red head, breast, back and [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]
  • Streaked back
  • White undertail coverts
  • Brown wings and tail
  • Immature male resembles female
Female:
  • Brown crown and cheek patch contrasting with pale supercilium and malar streak
  • Heavily streaked underparts
  • Brown upperparts
So, pick your choice.

10) What is the color of the black box in a commercial airplane?

Orange or red - to make it easier to spot among the other debris.

cheers

I love trick questions. Here's mine:

When did WW2 end?
It depends on which country you are asking about. I'm pretty sure that Russia and Japan still haven't signed a peace treaty, so that would mean that they're still at war in that respect (there are some territorial disputes that have prevented an agreement, I think. It's not like they are going to be exchanging blows any time soon, but still, technically they are at war.) So from that point of view it still hasn't ended.

I don't think Russia and Japan actually went to war with each other in the first place. Though your answer may be right. I was thinking of after the reunionification of Germany cause the war was with the State of Germany which didn't exist during until then.
