The only thing that companies fear other than chapter 11 is boycotting Christians. Christians make up the largest majority in the world.

Yeah but they can't even agree on what to call themselves.

But you know what, if you want to boycott a company, how about Spencer Gifts, a longtime mall staple? Right now they feature these really cheesy and insulting gift items, such as Jesus clocks, dashboard figurines, and other equally goofy things. I know it doesn't sound very "evil", but if you see them yourself you'd agree that they're just a tad mocking. They're in the same vein as the little Buddhas everyone likes to have, which are also very insulting to Buddhists.

Wow Shawn, have you ever listened to any other rap groups besides this Six Mafia what people. You can't say rap is the major reason for downfall of todays youth, it is a reason. Tell you what, why don't you listen to some hard rock, rock, hip-hop, or other music areas, their lyrics can be just as bad.

I don't know where you're gonna be shopping from now on because EVERYBODY plays rap music in their advertisments and in their stores.

quite honestly, i doubt the big corporations will miss your money, but hey whatever floats your boat.

i haven't seen the commercial, but judging by Footlockers Branding in general, its probably tacky. If it bothers you so much, might consider writing them a letter and letting them know your view point if its that offensive to you. That seems a little more practical and mature way of facing the issue.

The Footlocker uses rap in thier commercials. I am a Babptist and I have convinced my family and friends to boycott the footlocker for thier choice of ad campaigns. Rap is greatly responsible for the corruption of todays youth. As christians, I urge you to join me in hitting this corporation in the wallet for adding to this ongoing problem that plauges the youth of today. I have e-mailed the Footlocker concerning this and they don't seem to want to pull the rap spots. Thank you for you attention to this subject.

Sure, I'll join your boycott. Not because they use rap music in their commercials however, but they once employed this guy . Yes, ladies and gentleman, country has sunken to a new low and Billy Ray Cyrus is no longer the worst country singer ever.

I said nothing about christian rap and it is obviously that none of you live outside of gated communities. I guess I came to the wrong place with this concern. Sorry to bother so many people that have obviously been lured into the rap world. Do me a favor though, watch BET for an hour. Then go to the mall and really listen to the way that the baggy pants wearing crowd talks and acts. Then post a reply to this thread.

This would have to be the single most offensive thread I have read. I would like to know exactly what you are using to base the assumption that we have been "lured in to the rap world". Is it that we are not agreeing to your highly questionable generalizations and judgemental comments? Why would I have to watch BET? They show rap music on MTV. Your comments are also coming off offensive as far as racial issues are concerned. I am not saying that I would condone all rap music, but I wouldn't condone all rock or any other type of music. In every genre there is music that the lyrics would come into question. Why are you focusing on just rap music? I would have to agree with others, there are a multitude of things that we need to be concerned with doing as Christians. If you are seriously expecting secular companies to live by a Godly principal, then I suggest you start doing the research on the companies and causes that they donate money to every year also. You may be very surprised as to what you find. I believe we are to be an example of love, and not to focus on the negative.

I'm with you in hating rap, but your reasoning is unfounded, and to be frank, ridiculous. It's a commercial. Get over it. You see that channel button on your remote? Press up or down, you're choice. Or, do what the majority of the world does during a commerical and go make a sandwhich. Bam, done.

OK, I do have to say that some of the moral relativism in this thread is frightening. I think its safe to say that gangster rap definitely has had negative effects on society. Take a few psychology courses studying media violence and the picture becomes pretty clear. Of course people don't want to hear this, because it makes people uncomfortable. Boycotting is a very effective tool for making changes in society, and its not hypocritical to pick a starting point to make a stand.

All that said, I am often guilty of listening to rap myself, but I am not going to be intellectually dishonest with myself and try to justify it.

I think we should also be highly weary of racism as Shawn seems to be slipping that into his reasoning.
