Unless first born again, the gospel remains hidden and thought of as foolishness.
“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” 1 Corinthians 2:14 (KJV 1900)
“For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.” 1 Corinthians 2:11–12 (KJV 1900)
“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” 2 Corinthians 4:3–4 (KJV 1900)
Your not understanding the context of what Paul is saying here. What Paul is saying is that people who are new to Christ do not have a mature understanding of the Spiritual teachings of the Holy Spirit.
“And when I came to you, brethren, I did not come with superiority of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God. For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling, and my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God. Yet we do speak wisdom among those who are mature; a wisdom, however, not of this age nor of the rulers of this age, who are passing away;”
1 Corinthians 2:1-6 NASB1995
“And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual men, but as to men of flesh, as to infants in Christ. I gave you milk to drink, not solid food; for you were not yet able to receive it. Indeed, even now you are not yet able, for you are still fleshly. For since there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not fleshly, and are you not walking like mere men?”
1 Corinthians 3:1-3 NASB1995
Verse 14 is referring to the natural man who has set his mind on the flesh.
“For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so,”
Romans 8:5-7 NASB1995
What Paul is saying here is that those who set themselves against God cannot subject themselves to the law of God because they are not spiritually discerned and cannot be as long as they remain at odds against God. They have hardened their heart against Him and as long as they do that God will not grant them Spiritual knowledge. Hence “He who has ears to hear, let him hear. So their ignorance is not the result of God forsaking them it is the result of them forsaking God. God does not force anyone to believe but He will allow them to.
