Boredom.

I had a long history of this. Now I will go into praise and worship, often, though not always unspoken, particularly I will sing songs to the Lord in my mind. It truly does wonders.

This often happens to me,and when it does I think about the Lord, and pray till I fall asleep.

Yes. It's much better to use the occasion to fill our hearts with gratitude and love toward the Lord than to continue in the anxiety of our limited perspective. It's a win-win that chemical helpers can't begin to come close to.
