Video shows border wall construction underway in Texas

We hope they get working on the wall real soon here in Southern California. Just the other day ICE went out and picked up a whole lot more of MS-13 gang members. Once deported we need to be sure they don't get back in. Some have already been deported numerous times but -- easily yet returned.

These ones do not wish to
Make America Great Again.

If government made sure that everyone had jobs, then gangs would vanish.
The gangs in my city are locally sourced. I think in Chicago as well.

I think it's one task government could do better than private entities do.
One of my daughters is "not competitive" in social development due to
chemo theropy at age 3, and the open job market is difficult for her.
Also her husband has two jobs and I'd hate to see him deported.

Does he have an immigration lawyer and trying his best to become a legal resident or leagle citizen?

And stayed out of all trouble while here in the States?

If so we wish him well.

I know a lot of people that have lived here for many years but, for some reason never started the process to become legal. It's a good time for all that qualify to do that.

The Berlin Wall (German: Berliner Mauer, pronounced [bɛʁˈliːnɐ ˈmaʊ̯ɐ] ( listen)) was a guarded concrete barrier that physically and ideologically divided Berlin from 1961 to 1989.[1] Constructed by the German Democratic Republic (GDR, East Germany), starting on 13 August 1961, the Wall cut off (by land) West Berlin from virtually all of surrounding East Germany and East Berlin until government officials opened it in November 1989.[2] Its demolition officially began on 13 June 1990 and finished in 1992.[1][3] The barrier included guard towers placed along large concrete walls,[4] accompanied by a wide area (later known as the "death strip") that contained anti-vehicle trenches, "fakir beds" and other defenses. The Eastern Bloc portrayed the Wall as protecting its population from fascist elements conspiring to prevent the "will of the people" in building a socialist state in East Germany.

GDR authorities officially referred to the Berlin Wall as the Anti-Fascist Protection Rampart (German: Antifaschistischer Schutzwall). The West Berlin city government sometimes referred to it as the "Wall of Shame", a term coined by mayor Willy Brandt in reference to the Wall's restriction on freedom of movement.[5] Along with the separate and much longer Inner German border (IGB), which demarcated the border between East and West Germany, it came to symbolize physically the "Iron Curtain" that separated Western Europe and the Eastern Bloc during the Cold War.[6]

Before the Wall's erection, 3.5 million East Germans circumvented Eastern Bloc emigration restrictions and defected from the GDR, many by crossing over the border from East Berlin into West Berlin; from there they could then travel to West Germany and to other Western European countries. Between 1961 and 1989 the Wall prevented almost all such emigration.[7] During this period over 100,000[6] people attempted to escape and over 5,000 people succeeded in escaping over the Wall, with an estimated death toll ranging from 136[8] to more than 200[9][6] in and around Berlin.

In 1989 a series of revolutions in nearby Eastern Bloc countries—Poland and Hungary in particular—caused a chain reaction in East Germany that ultimately resulted in the demise of the Wall.[10] After several weeks of civil unrest, the East German government announced on 9 November 1989 that all GDR citizens could visit West Germany and West Berlin. Crowds of East Germans crossed and climbed onto the Wall, joined by West Germans on the other side in a celebratory atmosphere. Over the next few weeks, euphoric people and souvenir hunters chipped away parts of the Wall; the governments later used industrial equipment to remove most of what was left.[6] The "fall of the Berlin Wall" paved the way for German reunification, which formally took place on 3 October 1990.[

Why do yall equate MS 13 with Hispanics . Most illegals get low paying jobs and stay out of trouble . I live in a Hispanic neighbourhood and they rarely cause problems. The biggest complaint I’ve ever had - playing music late on Sunday night

The Berlin wall was build to divide a city...a city that once has been one city in one county. It divided families and neighbors and "Germans". The division created two new countries from a country that has once been one.

The wall on the southern border of the US is to divide TWO DIFFERENT countries...and keep the citizens of one country from illegally invading another.

There is no comparison.

I had a friend who lived next to the border on Dairy Mart Road in San Diego (can Google) and each and every night he said there were approximately 25 people coming through their yards and jumping fences -- made his life pretty miserable and scary. This was happening over 40 years ago and it has not gotten better. So how many are really here illegally today?

The government ‘now’ is trying to make jobs for everyone. It’s such a shame that ingrained liberal policies (like open borders, which create a lot of other problems) rob assistance from those like your daughter, who seems to be in a catch-22 situation if her husband is an illegal.

Its the same thing, when a wall goes up, you will see, there will be no difference at all.

People will still come over the wall, either way, it will do no good at all.

And in the end, people will fight to the death to come in just like the berlin wall, history repeats its self, and its funny to watch when it does as no one ever learns from history.

True, two different countries and two completely different issues.

Why do people throw in so-called comparisons that are not true comparisons?

Is it only to confuse the ones that do not know better?

yes - it is crazy - no other country in the world allows this kind of nonsense

praying for the trump wall to be built - and soon

as potus said - the few billion for the wall is nothing like the 780 billion for the military - funding the wall should be simple

i heard a report that it might be 22 million - double what they claim

a couple of guys did a count of how many entered vs how many left and they said 22 million is more accurate - but possibly still an undercalculation

they used public records to calculate this

What a waste of money. Meanwhile you have homeless and hungry people. People scared for their health but can't financially justify a trip to their doctor...

Congratulations. I hope you feel good about yourselves.

There is no way this will only cost 22 million. I'd be surprised if when it's all said and done that it's less than a billion.

Meanwhile you have homeless and hungry people.

Tell them to please come to California. Here in California we give all of the homeless debit cards which are good for a couple of hundred dollars of food a month. Plus, many churches and shelters serve up free meals.

One of my homeless friends was receiving a little over $400 a month.

I have been giving Bibles and assistance to the homeless for over 40 years. I know many, many, many.

Bring them all to California what the heck we seem to be giving away everything here for free anyway.

So history repeats its self and this is not diffrent at all,

When this wall is built it will not keep gains out, and people will still get over the wall and no one will watch hundreds of miles of wall.

The wall will go unrepaired for years and wall any how.
