I still can't see why asylum seekers--especially these children--are more to be reviled and prevented from entering than economic migrants who sneak in to work and are allowed, covertly, to stay as long as they want.

IMO, admitting these children in would be assisting in a crime, since they're potentially runaways, whose parents might be grieving and searching for them.

With 9,500 minors crossing the border in one month, that equals 7,125 kids between the ages of 15 to 17 have left their parents and decided to go it alone in another country.

...These kids should all be returned to their parents!
Their parents (if they are still alive themselves) don't want them back. They don't want them subjected to the high risk of murder, torture and sex slavery that they face in their own countries.

We need a full-scale documentary, on this... Because we need to hear why the US is not contacting the local police from the towns these kids are from, and trying to return them to their parents.
You've got to be kidding. Do you really not know what is going on in these countries?

Most of them are illegal economic migrants using their home countries crime problems to get a legal cover for that.

I'd like to see a realistic, unbiased documentary on what life is like in these countries as well, because I honestly don't think it's the "war zone" everyone seems to make it out to be.

That's an odd rating, what are you praying for? That most of them are economic migrants? That they get a legal cover for that?
I am praying that you may someday have a more realistic view of what is happening.

I hope I also get a realistic view. It's hard to do, though, through the media. If only PBS or BBC or NPR would do some kind of unbiased, raw coverage on this.

It'd be even better if there were social scientists, anthropologists and other professionals in the field offering data through interviews in a documentary style. I'd like to witness the dangers, the solutions, and talk about the future.

People are emigrating from their counties in hopes that they can take up residence in this one without the legal permission to do so and are trying to use asylum to get in. What part of that view is unrealistic?

Many are fleeing gangs that control their neighborhoods. They have three choices in such neighborhoods:
1. Join the gang
2. Don't join and be executed
3. Flee to the border

....as for local police - they are not present.

I just don't see why the people don't have a town hall meeting, and hold the police in those towns accountable... I mean, don't they have their own FBI, or gang units?

...I don't get it... I need to see how this works, because I can't imagine it.

...Is it total anarchy..?

So you reject the possibility out of hand that many of them are actually just seeking asylum?

Who are hand in glove with the drug lords.

Just about.

Not out of hand, based on the rejection rate of their applications and "my home country has a high crime rate" isn't something that is typically grounds for asylum per the agreements regarding refugees the US is a signatory of.

I guess people are attracted to the way our society is governed, and the way the people work together as a national unit, similar to the way an ecosystem works... As opposed to lawlessness and free for all anarchy...

As opposed to lawlessness and free for all anarchy... Or I wonder if it's more of the 'what's best for me' kind of corrupted attitude, that causes the chaos to begin with.
In this case it's the consequence of years of support for kleptocratic and corrupt oligarchies by the US government on behalf of corporate interests and the illegal drug traffic which we fund.

I think it's a matter of priority... Am I to be more concerned about the influences we allow into our ecosystem (society)..? Or do I view it in a big picture way, concerning myself with the entire world?

...And to make it even more interesting, one is a defensive mindset, and the other is more forward thinking one. And that too needs to be balanced on the priority scale, because if we're going to be honest with ourselves, both are important.

But it doesn't explain why children from Central America seeking asylum are more dangerous to our "ecosystem" than Mexicans sneaking across the border to find work.
