My friend saw it and thought it was really funny. My parents saw it and were a little disappointed from the "gross stuff," but none the less raved about it being "extremely funny," and my sister saw it and said it was absolutely hysterical.

I'll see it after the fuss goes down a little bit.

Borat? OK, the joke was funny the first couple of times but he's been doing the same routine for years on the TV here in the UK for years, first as Ali G and then as Borat. I don't doubt that Sacha Baron Cohen is talented and allows people to make a fool of themselves it's just that it's all been done before.

ROFL, that's the funniest part in the whole movie! He starts mumbling all that jibberish and the pastors are like "That's the Holy Spirit!" Certified nutcases those people are!

I saw it and loved it the night it opened. I saw it again last night and the audience was absolutly DEAD! Made it one of the most aweful theatre experiences ever!

I couldn't believe those poeple, NOBODY laughed. And they were all 20 year olds! Ugh, such a shame! lol

The crude humor will definitely appeal to many viewers; however, it is the cruel humor that makes the movie unacceptable. For example, in one scene, Borat is apparently invited to dinner. “Borat decides it would be polite to compliment two of the women at the dinner party, while he insults the third woman, the pastor’s wife, for being plain.” He goes to the bathroom and then returns with a plastic bag of his own feces.

In another scene, he goes to a Pentecostal church. “The worshipers scream in tongues and place their hands on Borat’s head, and he decides to respond in turn-- wiggling his tongue out and making ridiculous noises mimicking the worshipers.” Although the scene is a blatant mockery of the beliefs of the Pentecostal Church, I suspect that most of us will agree that this is a not-so-subtle mockery of the beliefs of all Christians.

Let’s do what Einstein used to call a thought experiment. (Although popularized by Einstein, the term was originally used by Hans Christian Ørsted. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thought_experiment .)

Anyway, in this thought experiment, there is a scene in this hypothetical movie in which a dog lifts his hind leg in order to urinate on an object of religious veneration such as the Christian Cross or the Jewish Star of David, or perhaps the animal would urinate on a painting or statue of Mohammed or Krishna.

Although the dog does not know what he is doing, the director(s) and the writer(s) do. I would consider such a scene to be an insult to a person’s religious beliefs.
