People who have an internet connection now should reconsider how they spend their money. It's not just a little bit of money we are talking about. Think about how much You spend on continuous internet connection during let's say 20 years:

I assumed that anyone who was on the forums had internet access.

I like books, love them actually, I try to purchase a new one any chance I get. I think every book has its place among all people. There are books if never pick but but others love and vice versa.

Well, it's how I get my internet, my TV, reading material, music, etc. Until recently I did all my work online and so it was essential. And there has been no other way for me to get it.

Believe me, I am careful how I spend my money. This is one thing I choose to have.

I don't watch any TV, I've never had a TV or stereo, I don't listen to any music, much because I think those things are a waste of time.
And to return to books: reading bad books can be a waste of time even if they are very cheap or free:

I limit TV too. I did used to turn it on (netflix, no TV out there) because I was very isolated. I moved from the mountains, to a farm. Only my husband and I lived there, but he was often traveling for work. No family or friends nearby, and I didn't belong to a church. I literally would go months sometimes without talking to anyone except my husband, and I might go more than a week without seeing another person if he was working out of town. I had all the farm to take care of, but it gets a little strange chatting with animals (and no, they never answered, LOL). I ran the TV for company.

I adore good music. It lifts my spirits and feeds my soul, and some music draws me closer to God.

I don't see the point of wasting time reading bad books either, but I find good ones very valuable. I don't read much fiction at all anymore though, for quite a few years now.

We all have different priorities and reasons. Yours are surely valid for you, and I have my reasons for mine as well.

It came on once, and I recognized the guys from all the stuff they sell. I forgot the name of the show though, and I said something like "That Duck Dude People show is on". My daughter found this insanely hilarious for some reason.

I miss when they used to show animal documentaries, and how to garden, how to make and build things, and all that. It seems like it's all animal cops and which house to buy now, or the same remodel over and over.

The other day though we had it on, and some show about cute cats came on, and my daughter's cat sat and watched it without taking his eyes off (except during commercials) until the kitty countdown was over - about an hour.

Us, too. We spend $4.50 a day for our internet, TV, and phone. And like you, until just recently most of my wife's work was on the internet. What's a pack of cigarettes cost? (We don't smoke.) And that's less than 2 gallons of gasoline.

I think that's a lot. I'm just one person, but my costs are many times lower and I have a desk phone. I include buying cell phones in that cost (I don't have a smartphone and am unlikely to buy and I rarely buy a cell phone nowadays as the main one I have is moisture and knock resistant):

I have lots of good ones, and it would not be a waste of time to read them or utilize them somehow (for example do searches and have them show up in the results just a click away), but I find it hard to find time to read them during some periods of the year. Occasionally I read anyway despite being short of time - many positive reviews are coming up! But I don't want to place many reviews on Amazon as I don't like that site (mostly because they have an oligopoly position and compete with the Logos Bible Study software), and it's not always the best place to buy.

I actually ordered a few novels this month, most of them yesterday. They are interconnected. The ones I ordered yesterday were classics. I only ordered novels in order to combine parcels, the additional postage for the additional books was low and I was placing orders anyway. Now I will however cease from buying for a pretty long time unless the universities require something specific:

Really? $1.50 a day per service? I can hardly buy a single cup of cheap coffee for that... and a fountain coke is usually more.
