  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I've been extremely lucky never having to pay more than $300 on books for the three years I've been in college. They're such a rip-off... well, some of them anyways. Every book I buy for my flight classes I keep for myself later on. Those are never more than $50 though.

Spring quarter last year I finally got smart and didn't buy a single book. Oddly, I did better last quarter than I ever have! haha. So now I learned, do not buy the books untill at least the first week of school is through, by then you'll know if the teacher even uses it.

So, wanna chance it??? haha

I got lucky this semester. I am taking three english classes, which in turn means buying about 25 books in total...BUT most of them are small paperbacks that go for about 7 bucks a piece. I thought it was going to be a lot worse. But all in all, those books combined with a few others only come to just over 300 bucks

I did really good this semester. I only need books in 2 of 5 classes. All the teachers say buy them but I've had some of these teachers before and know that they don't use the books. My books cost me $106. Both were brand new or it would have been cheaper. I was supposed to buy a TI caculator for my math class but I refuse on the grounds that it's the only math class I have to take for graduation and therefore does not warrant a $106 caculator. The higher I get into my courses the cheaper my books seem to be. Maybe that's just so far. *shrugs*

My first semester, the semester I had the least amount of hours/classes (14 hours- 4 classes), I spent over $500.00.

After that, I wised up and purchased my books at half.com and ebay.com and spent less that $200.00 every semester. Fall of 2004, I had 19 hours- 7 classes, I spent $170.00 on books.
