• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Is there a problem with Mathematical Formulas. (As wildthing a break from doing a physics problem) lol.

Oh no, mathematical formulas are very useful. I'm just saying that life and love aren't quite so logical. ;)

Now come on, you don't have to be desperate to read the many books out on the subject. Just because others want to improve themselves, that doesn't mean you need to take potshots at them for doing so.

I concur. I think it's rather good trait that a person is willing to examine themselves from various avenues than someone who thinks they know it all and think they're okay where they are. There's always room for improvement.

The book we need to understand most for self improvement is the Bible. Oddly, its seldom the first place people look to.

Not disagreeing that point at all. However, it doesn't hurt to use resources available to us to help in areas where we might have struggles and pass what we have learned on to others. I think it was unfair for the generalizaton to be made that the OP or anyone reading these books were desperate. When did self improvement become desperation?

I agree that the Bible is the most important resource. However, I also feel that there are others book out there that can help us better understand ourselves. When choosing these books, it is important to pick a Christian author that will point us to biblical truths. I myselft have benefited greatly from books from Christian cousnelors and phycologist, I think they offter many great insights into ourselves and can help free us from many burdens that we bear in life. I think it takes great strenght to open ourselves up, and seek better understanding, and healing for our innner self.
