  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey everybody! :)
I am coming to you all for advice.

My wife has a very dear friend (they've been friends for over 20 years), and this friend is going through some difficult times. She is severely depressed about her life and about having wasted 9 years in a relationship (not marriage) with Mr. Wrong.

She feels abandoned by G-d, but she is open to hearing why she should be encouarged. She is also kind of open to the idea of hearing about Yeshua. She is (secular) Jewish and feels very apprehensive about betraying her family and her Jewishness by investigating Yeshua.

We would like to send her a book or other resource which will encourage her about G-d's love for her and how she can be happy by following G-d's word, and also about how it can be Jewish to accept Yeshua. This may need to be 2 different books.

I appreciate your input and recommendations.

Well, encouragement really isn't my thing, but if you want books that show how it can be Jewish to accept Y'shua, I recommend the Messiah series by Avi ben Mordechai. his website is http://www.m7000.com.

I would also recommend Yeshua: A Guide to the Real Jesus and the Original Church by Ron Moseley. I've heard good things about Jesus the Jewish Theologian by Brad Young, and I actually have the book, I just haven't gotten around to reading it yet.

Also, the book "Betrayed" and the book "Abandoned" by Stan Telchin are great testimonies of how he came to accept Yeshua as Messiah being raised in Judaism.

If you had to recommend only one, which one would it be?
