His influence as a songwriter can't be overstated. I like a number of his albums (Blood On The Tracks especially), but I don't listen to him a great deal anymore. I really enjoy the show he does on XM Satellite radio (Theme Time Radio) - it's excellent, and he's actually very funny.

Yes, I like some of his stuff. The stuff I do like I really like. I like quite a bit of folk rock. I like some rasp to a voice in certain genres. :)

I have always thought Dylan was the poet laureate of 60's music although I admit to belittliing his singing range until he hooked up with Tom Petty and the Traveling Wilburys

That was the SUPER group of all time

^It was never about singing range with Dylan. :)

I agree. Always reminded me of the greatness of a normal everyday person being real and authentic in lyric. The fact that his voice technique wasn't perfect only exemplified this more and the emotional expression to what he sang about was dead on. :) But if you listen to him in concert earlier on, I find his voice better...idk

I'm a huge Dylan admirer. (Even extends to my current sig.) Robert Allen Zimmerman is a national treasure. He is the greatest solo artist in the history of rock music. "Like A Rolling Stone" was selected as the #1 rock song of all time by Rolling Stone Magazine. I'll have to mention Blonde On Blonde as an especially important album. It's the height of his electric rock period, yet it also has some of his most melodic ballads. One of my favorites:
