• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well, I've been thinking of starting a blog and I was wondering if anyone would read it. My first series will be in three parts (not necessarily in three entries, but in three areas of focus) all revolving around the concept of rationality. The three delineations are (1) a defense of rationality, (2) what is the biblical concept of truth, and (3) a positive construction of a new Christian epistemology. Now, does that sound compelling or what? :sorry:

I'm not altogether sure about which service I would want to use. I might even want to start my own website, eventually. What I'm sure I want is the ability for readers provide feedback, so whatever service I go with must have that feature.

You're kidding, right?

As one of the most knowledge able and eloquent posters on the forum, how can you think we wouldn't be interested.

Heck, I read my daughter's blog and for the most part all she does is complain about work and/or school. Of course I'd read yours.

I would encourage you to have a go at it Jon , i just started one , the thing is time , and tiredness .... if you can overcome those two obstacles then you should find it rewarding .

Also every one has very different ideas about what they should put in their 'blog' ...... some go for poems and others for just general comments , the thing to do (as far as I am concerned) is to try and make it easy on the eyes , and hope it transfers some truth without being too dry , but as I said we are all different , so some may be stimulated by "wordy" pages others may simply not be.

Only one way to find out Brother ;)

Before I give in to my untamable sense of humor:D , I'll first say that I would enjoy reading your blog.

Now, forgive me, but I must get this out of my system. When I read about the first series being in three parts, I thought of the following:

My good friend and brother in Christ, Nse, is currently studying for his doctorate in conducting in Washington state. He often writes letters to the church informing us of how he is doing. He always states in the beginning that he has divided the letter into three sub-headings. Since many Reformed pastors often say the same thing in their sermon introductions, it's kind of become a joke in our church that a good Reformed person always divides everything into three subheadings. I guess you pass!

I believe that he is in Seattle. However, I'm not sure. But, he's returning to Maryland this weekend for the wedding between two members of our church. I'll ask him them. It will be good to see him again-he's like a big older brother who never quite grew up. He tells the corniest jokes and expects all of his poor victims (whoops, I mean friends) to laugh. . .

;) Well, "the other day" = a couple of months ago. When he was in Melbourne.

But he was a great guy to talk to...

Now I should read his books.
