  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Rich,

I don't know if you know this or not, but I am formerly known as proud2bcatholic.

I changed my name after discovering the beauty of our traditions.

My wife and I are now parishioners of a TLM community. We are both members of the choir for our parish.

Thanks for the link, Rich. I'm interested in good Distributist sites, as I've been a little disappointed by some of the ones that I've found on the web.

As for me, I had a blog way back before blogging was cool (Fall of 2001, I think). But, I got bored with it after a couple of months and stopped.

Wow, you got married? Congratulations!!!!

Yes, quite a world from what we were used to, right?

It's great to 'see' you!

Hi Bill and P2BC,

What I wanted to do is make an archive so to speak of distributist articles and writings so there will be no commentary on my part. I thought it would be good for newcomers or researchers to have a place where they could find consolidated information on the subject whether for or against.

I'm still building it, little by little and hopefully though not complete, will give a better explanation of distributism. It is true that before the idea could truly take off, WWII happened and everything changed.

There is something interesting about that time however. All these passionate hearts, influenced by Pope Leo XIII (who should be a Saint for both the Leonine prayer and truly building the pavement for social doctrine). Joseph Pearce thinks Tolkien was a distributist (he never said it, but just from his writings and since he was a G.K. Weekly subscriber) and it must have been a very exciting period to live in (both by ChesterBelloc and the Inklings). Soon I will be posting a portion of the George Bernard Shaw and Chesterton debates.

I always thought Chesterton said it right:

"[No society can survive the socialist] fallacy that there is an absolutely unlimited number of inspired officials and an absolutely unlimited amount of money to pay them." - on Socialism

"All but the hard hearted man must be torn with pity for this pathetic dilemma of the rich man, who has to keep the poor man just stout enough to do the work and just thin enough to have to do it." - on Capitalism
