No, because the invisible pink unicorns aren't necessary for the explanation of any phenomena. I suppose you could say they cause gravity, but Gravitons strike me as being more parsimonious, personally.

Agonaces, I am rather assuming that no one on here will go to the wall for Gravitons, but as a model, the "particle mediated force" is a very powerful model for all the other fundamental forces. The photon mediating the electromagnetic force, the intermediate vector bosons mediating the weak force and the gluon mediating the strong nuclear force (LINK). The question now is, is the "graviton" the particle that mediates the gravitational force?

Until it is verified I suspect it will be little more than a 'construct'.

I have to admit I am not that well acquainted with this end of physics, but if a scientist carries an hypothesis, does not mean that even that particular scientist is "wedded" to said hypothesis.

Its entirely possible that this could be the case. However, I think it is more parsimonious that it is caused by something in quantum physics, and not by supernatural entities.
