  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am crazy sick of internet porn blasting its way into my family, my life and my work. I am also trying to do something to limit the porn and limit the time that my kids are using the net. It would be so nice to see them out in the sun. I have been looking at a couple of filtering programs. One is called wisechoice dot net the other is covenanteyes dot com.

The built in family controls on Windows and the "safe search" options on the browsers help some but not much.

Do any of you have experience with this issue?

Put all computers in the living room. Take away tablets, laptops, and smart phones.

And it won't help a bit! If you family wants porn, they'll still find a way to get it.

Changing their hearts is the only way to keep it out of your house.

Some routers have the ability to block websites at the router level.

Only problem is you'll be spending a ton of time adding sites to it, which might be a lost cause in itself because just of the shear number of sites out there.

You'll also have to block out any image search website (sorry, that includes all search engines..they all have image-specific functions).

And flickr..and deviantart.....and...I could go on for hours here.

so..basically..to block every single porn site..or any site that has 'adult imagery' on it..the only option is to really unsubscribe from your ISP.

People will find ways around any blocking. Trying to block everything is a 100% impossible task.

I use this cloud-based service, I didn't subscribe to it to block porn though - I subscribed to it to block all the whackjob doomsday sites that my ex-mother-in-law would login to when she would come over.

It's pretty straight forward though, it will block any URL that is added to it's list. If any device tries to access that address on your WiFi it will take them to a page saying the address is blocked.

The problem being: You can spend 8 hours a day for 10 years straight adding sites to be blocked (when it comes to porn)..and not even come close to adding in every porn site out there. For every 1 site blocked, 5 more would be created.

I still suspect the op is just a veiled advertisement for software

That could very well be. If they're trying to share websites before they can even legitimately post a URL that could be what's up.

Some real easy fixes if you are not computer savvy.
My son is 9 and he is only allowed to use kidrex search engine.
I made it our homepage on both laptops at home.
Also If you download Mozilla Firefox in the settings tab; if selected it will filter sex/porn advertisements.

To be honest it sounds like a spam site has your ip address and has attached these to your site.

Also if you Google - it links to your facebook account and tracks cookies.

If you use Duckduckgo.com it is a search engine and does not track cookies or your history. Also, it
identifies official sites for you as well.

If you need any further advice anyone email me and I would be glad to help!
I am not able to place my actual email account on here just yet. but it is my username and the host is gmail.

May grace and peace be with you all.

I don't see the problem, unless someone on your computer has already been searching or looking for pornographic sites. I've been doing the Internet since it's text based days and have never had a porn site "force" it's way on to my computer, or into it's search history.

I did have one person deliberately go to every kind of porn "sales" sites and use my email address, then brag about it. We had a dispute over the price of an item that I was going to purchase, and I am sure we had agreed upon. When I said "no sale" that was his childish and deviant way to extract vengeance.

My mailbox was flooded with (beyond) explicit titles for all sorts of sexually related sites, most extremely deviant. Funny thing was, our ISP was selling out to another major company, and my email address was changed, and I use gmail as a "generic" site for all except business and close friends. Problem solved.

The point is, though, if you're getting porn, someone was looking for it.. your problem is not with the internet, I think it's closer to home. I believe it's a spiritual problem, not a digital problem. I do realize that some people get fooled into following innocuous links, etc.. but most porn on ones home or office PC was either knowingly or inadvertently solicited, by someone or something.
