No, we just don't understand why we should give special consideration to one belief. I doubt you tell people that they shouldn't say "Santa Claus doesn't exist" or "Unicorns don't exist" just because they don't have evidence against those concepts. I'm personally an agnostic atheist, but I don't see why a straight-up atheist should feel any obligation to use language that waffles between "It doesn't exist" and "I don't know if it exists."
