  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

First the liberalizing Church Growth Movement, in this case the Ablaze movement,

Which is basically dead in the water...

then the demand for ordaining women.

This will never happen. The synod would disintegrate.

I thought of this thread while I was sitting in church on Christmas Day morning. I was at my daughter's WELS church. They had a processional cross, some Latin liturgy, and Holy Communion.....interestingly, the local LCMS church had a sign out front that said "no Christmas Day services." I felt badly for that congregation.

We don't normally have Christmas Day services here. (No one would come.) But this year since Christmas Day was on a Sunday, and I don't cancel Sunday services, we had a Christmas Day service. Had a handful of folks here.

We have Christmas Eve and Christmas day. Christmas Eve is generally the busy service, Christmas day service though is usually less than 20 (we average about 80 on a typical Sunday)
