  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

So the other night i was talking with my brother, and two sisters about the Holy Spirit and how a pastor i know isn't really a firm believer in stuff like speaking in tounges.. and i said "yeah i bet if me and my friend walked in speaking in tounges he would hold up a crucifix to us.."
Is that blasphemy? i'm pretty worried about this right now.

No blasphemy is this. When someone knows it is God and says it is the Devil. Calling the works of God the Works of the Devil. Like what Jesus said to the Religious Jews who called the Works of God the Works of the Devil. I can't find this scripture sorry. Maybe someone else can.

I agree, that isn't blasphemy. You were speaking about the pastor, not about the Holy Spirit.

I was just giving an example of Blasphemy. Not everything is Blasphemy, it's just disrepect. Blasphemy is a very serious thing.

Well, since the Holy Spirit has obviously convicted you about talking that way about the pastor (who may have done exactly whet you said he would - many feel that way), then you have a "Repentance issue" to deal with, but not a "Blasphemy" issue.

I see so many things in the church world and te churches I interact with that make me sick. I however will never speak bad or negative toward the men of God over these churches. Why? Because I am not in their shoes. The responsiblty they hold is far more than you see. And who am I to say they are not anointed. I would never dare say someone isn't anointed because if I am wrong, well scripture is very clear about speaking against Gods anointed. Because someone's views differ than mine that doesn't mean their not anointed

In my view I wouldn’t be too concerned with the use of light hearted humour; things could be worse in that you could very well walk into some congregations where the senior minister might hold up a copy of John MacArthurs “Charismatic Chaos”, now there’s a horrid and evil object if there ever was one. For a lot of them, they have given up trying to use the Word of God so they have to rely on the 'words of JM'.
