  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I´m just converting, so this is quite new thoughts for me, but one thing I´ld like to say...

Sacha Saint Francis said:
1) The Pill is an Abortifacient if used while being sexually active (see medical research copied below) and the Church does not tolerate the murder of babies

This is true about most pills, but not about all of them...
Some pills just give the body the impression that it´s already pregnant... They are not considered as "safe", but are not killing...

Note bene: I´m not arguing about what is right to do, just telling that all pills are not aborting...

HeatherQ17, my question is whether at 17 - and being already treated for depression - you should be taking hormones anyway. At 17 it is still normal, AFAIK, for your periods not to have settled into regularity. How bad would it be without the Pill? Is it THAT inconvenient? Can't you just avoid this extra chemical whammy to your body, and let things fall into place slowly by themselves?

I am beginning menopause, and my periods are also very unpredictable - drives me crazy - so I sympathize with you - but heck, that's just life! I don't want to mess around with my hormones unless I have to. I wonder if you should not be thinking along the same lines.
Bump.

Actually, my understanding is that all pills have 3 ways to prevent pregnancy:

1) Supress ovulation (by making the body think it's already pregnant with the hormones)

Then, in case #1 fails, there are back-up mechanisms:

2) Thicken cervical mucus (does not encourage extended sperm life like thinner, more-fertile mucus)

3) Create an "unhospitable environment" in the uterus via a thinner endometrial lining (this is meant to prevent implantation of a fertilized egg, and is the abortafaecient property being referred to).

crystabelle, thank you. That's a testimony which balances out both sides. Thank you for sharing that. I'm sorry for the loss of your friend and I know it's a subject with which you speak from with true life experience.

Thank you! Everything I say is true (as far as I am aware). I'm so glad that you believe me. I was accused of lying, recently, in another section. That upset me a lot because I do NOT lie. I always try to help people by telling them of my life experiences.
