Right, the degree of folding is important. But there's basically no difference in folding between humans and chimpanzees. Basically much of the thinking takes place on the surface of the brain, and the folding is a way of increasing that surface. Having a bigger brain does the same thing, of course, so they both have a significant effect.I either read something or watched a tv programme quite a while ago, where it was saying (if I remember rightly) that it wasn't necessarily just brainSIZE that was important, but also the amount of wrinkling or folds or something in the brain (sorry if I'm not very exact).
Anybody know anything about that?
