Perfectly put, Welsh. You wouldn't parade around outside in your skivvies, but a bikini? Would you be comfortable with your wife or daughter doing it in front of a slew of guys? Does the fact that there are a hundred other nearly-naked chicks around make it somehow OK?
Yeah, I know, I seriously need to avoid this thread lol. It always amuses me that I'm the only chick who ever thinks women should dress modestly AT ALL TIMES; being at the beach isn't a license to lose your modesty.
Not trying to offend anyone, I love all of ya, so... I'm done!
My line of thinking is that it depends on the individual. If someone thinks that by wearing a t-shirt and regular shorts over their bathing suit while splashing around a pool or body of water is more modest than one wearing a 2-piece, they're really only fooling themselves. Wet clothing sticks to the skin (wet t-shirt anyone?) and again, if someone is easily-tempted just looking at people, it stands to reason that wet clothing, regardless of the cut, is going to pose a problem or temptation for that person. That doesn't mean we should all avoid water sports and splashing around the pool during the summer months in order to help those that refuse to "help themselves" by minding themselves, their eyeballs and their own thought life.
By the way, how I know about the t-shirt business is because I've
been there. I enjoy spending time with my family, which includes a niece and nephews. I love playing around with them, but I realize I need to watch how my skin shows. Years upon years ago, thinking I was being modest by wearing a shirt over my bathing suit, I realized while diving in and out that the shirt was sticking so much to my skin and accentuating my curves so much, I took it off and just managed with my bathing suit. I felt
so much better - and comfortable... modest, if you will - by doing so. Again, to each their own. If you're convicted to wear a little skirt over your bathing suit, by all means then do that. But, if you think you're being any more modest than someone wearing a 2-piece or anything else, think again. That little skirt cover-up could
easily be said to be immodest by someone else who thinks a mini-skirt is immodest. You wouldn't go to the grocery store or church in a mini-skirt, would you? So why is it suddenly okay if you're at a pool? Just saying, the same could be said for all things.
Love to you all, too. And Merry Christmas!!!! All this talk about bikinis.. there's
snow outside by some of us!
