It sounds like when you bike, your not really pushing it, its just a relaxing ride. So I would say walking is better in this case. But if you really up the pedal rpms, and maintan pedal pressure by upshifting (consistant and constant pressure) then you can burn alot more cycling than walking. And distance does make a differnce.
When I ride I go about 30 or 40 miles, and I on my mountin bike avg. 19 mph is pretty good.
