  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Biggest loser on CF.....

I don't know the exact percentages, but yes, morning workouts are better because they jump start the body's metabolism and you experience the benefits all day.

There are so many different theories on working out. For me, I was always fond of going in early for cardio and doing weight training later in the day. I also notice that when I am lifting weights and working out, my appetite is suppressed.

stomach exercises alone won't do the trick... it's that plus eating right plus cardio exercises... it's the combination of all of that which helps you lose body fat

My stomach is really weak (especially compared to the rest of my body, which is decent). I use machines for squats because if I do free weights/etc, my stomach/lower back get really sore and my legs don't.

The opposite for me.

If I don't eat at least 2 hours before doing weights then I have to quit early because I run out of energy.

And I have to eat right after, usually, because I am completely starving.

Back when I was better (and maintaining my reduced weight), I would eat an extra meal on weight days because of this. I think some of the reason for the weight gain is that I started eating an extra meal every day.

JM
(Extra calories, really, I use to be good and eat 4-5 meals a day with a 5th or 6th one on weight days, but I have reduced that to a couple larger meals...)

I am 5'1"
112-115 (depends on when I weigh myself)
a zumba obsesser.
and starting a boot camp on monday.

I need to lose about 15 lbs by september. Today I am starting. :)

If you are 115 pounds and 5'1", your BMI is 21.7, which is considered healthy.

If you lost 15 pounds, your BMI would be 18.9, which is considered close to underweight, which is unhealthy.

Don't go to book camp, you don't need it.

You can't determine anyones BMI simply by knowing height and weight. BMI has to do with ratio of lean body tissue to fat tissue. It is not about weight.

I have seen pics of Red and I don't think she needs to lose weight either. I just think its really unwise to try and determine someones BMI online or using height/weight charts, because those things are worthless.

You're right Coach, but if I can say something that can wake her up to say, you don't need to lose any weight, and it saves her life, I'm going to do it. And few, if any, people will argue with numbers.

Thanks for your concern, but since its my body, I think I know what is best for it.

:)
No, I think I know what's best for it and I DON'T think you need to be losing weight.

Me on the other hand....

I'm 6'1
207 lbs as of this morning. (down from 215)
I need to weigh 185 by september.

So far I run 5 miles a day, row for 15 minutes, light weights for 30 minutes. I also switched my diet to full vegetarian with suppliments for protien and muscle development as well as 2 liters of water a day and some form of physical leisure activity (golf, hiking, swimming, so on and so forth) twice a week.

Let's just hope it works out.
