  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Biggest loser on CF.....

Hi Spice,
Thanks for trying to help me out. The problem is, I work a VERY unrelenting job, where I can't stop and eat throughout the day, only at lunchtime (1:00). We aren't allowed to snack at our desks, and a lot of times it's way too hectic in here to eat anyway.
I can't jog at all because I have asthma, so walking is the best thing for me. I can't walk in the mornings, though, cause I have my son and the mornings are just a wild, crazy mess of showering, dressing, making his breakfast, and getting out the door on time. Evenings are the same way; grocery shopping, chores, dinner, homework, bath, bedtime. So my only 'me' time is at night, which sucks cause I am NOT a night owl and when it's dark, I wanna go to sleep lol. But I can walk after dark, which is nice in summer cause it's cooler outside, so that's what I've been trying to do. I'm also trying to go up and down the stairs in my building at least once a day at work, though we don't always get to take our breaks if we're busy.

So...I can't eat 5 or 6 meals a day...and my exercise time is basically limited to evening walks.

I'm a huge water drinker, thankfully. And I like my water room temp, so that helps, too. No refrigeration needed!

Any suggestions with what I've told ya??

Spicy - I start work at 8:30, get up at 6:30. I get off at 4:30, usually not home till after 5:00.

geesh I don't know.

I mean, there's 6:30, 8:30, 1:00, 4:30-bedtime to work with but you've got a pretty busy schedule so it's not like you can plan around meals too easily.

No snacking at work? Like, you can't go on a smoke break and eat an apple or something?

Spicy - nope. We're SUPPOSED to get two breaks a day, but if we're working on something, we can't just get up and leave, which is the case most of the time. We hardly ever get our breaks.

Well, I lost another 3 lbs somehow lol. Maybe just through sweating, since we've had another heat wave, lol. No, seriously. I've really been trying to change my eating habits and we did go for a 30 minute walk lastnight, even though it was icky humid outside.

Onward and upward.

I've worked out the last couple of days, and I am one sore puppy! But, it actually feels good to do workouts. I have been working out with another coach. We are doing this thing called cross fit. It was pretty brutal today. Coach

You coud get some decent benefits from making your last meal of the day no carb / no fat.

Like a bunch of vegetables and a piece of fish.

just one more thought to think about.

Here's my physical activity for this month so far... Over the last couple of days I just started adding work in there because it makes me sore enough to be included as a workout IMO. I'll probably do some swimming or get on the elliptical today.

June

06/03: 30 minutes circuit training
06/04: 60 minutes swimming
06/05: 30 minutes circuit training

06/09: 20 minutes walking
06/11: 20 minutes walking

06/14: 30 minutes circuit training
06/16: 60 minutes swimming
06/19: 40 minutes swimming
06/20: (7 hours of demonstrating workouts at my job?)

Hey, I recently read an article on Yahoo! saying that working out in intervals is better for you than 1 long work out. For example... Jogging 15 minutes, then taking a break and walking.. then jogging 15 minutes, then walk.. and then doing it again actually burns more fat than one long 45 minute workout. I will try to find the link to the article.

I am trying intervals. My intervals are very short so far, this week will be the first time they get up to 3 minutes.

I am pretty sure that I burn more fat by jsut going for 50 minutes than I do by doing 20 minutes of intervals. However, I tihnk that my speed/etc has shown improvement from doing intervals while when just jogging slowly for a long time improvement was slow.

I think that you can burn more calories going slowly. However, you can improve yourself better and probably burn more calories in a short amount of time by doing intervals.

I am thining of changing tihs interval routine to be:
1. Intervals
2. Long/slow
3. Intervals
4. Long/slow
5. Intervals
6. Long/slow
7. Rest

You don't want to do intervals every day because they are a lot harder on you than long slow jogging/etc.
