  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Biggest loser on CF.....

I have been spacing myself with my push ups and bicycle crunches and have shown dramatic improvement.

Basically I will get down and do 20 pushups and then flip over and do 24 bicycles and then take like a 20 min break. I do this about 3 times a day. My abdominal muscles are getting more defined and I'm a bit stronger as well.

I just need to incorporate some sort of cardio vascular work out now. But I can't seem to find Wii Fit anywhere.

Wish I'd seen this topic earlier. In the past few months, I lost a total of 30 pounds and went from a size 40 waist to a size 34. I lost a lot more than 30 pounds of fat, though, as I gained a lot of muscle thanks to a strength training program called Starting Strength. Has anyone heard of it? It's amazing. Google it. It turned a bunch of fat into muscle. I'm now 5'10", weigh 210 lbs, and yet have a lean enough body that I can clearly see my ribs and almost a six pack if I flex just right. I'm naturally chubby, and I have never even come close to having a six pack before, even when I did track and cross country in highschool. It's awesome.

I feel great. Exercise and proper nutrition can change everything. I have more energy, sleep better (as well as having more normal sleeping hours), look better, feel better, have a lot more confidence, and my endurance and strength and coordination in athletic endeavors have gone way up. Yea yea, sounds cheesy, but it's exciting being this in shape when your whole life you've struggled with chubbiness.

Just a corrections, cause it is a pet peeve of mine, but you did not turn muscle into fat. Muscle and fat are two totally separate cells. You can increase the size of one and decrease the size of the other, but you can never convert one to another. Fat cells can not become muscle cells.

intervals

more intervals

I'm doing what I called forced intervals. It's a bi product of being out of shape.

Basically I run until I'm out of gas (about 30 or 40 feet) then when I spot a good looking girl I suck it in and start running until she's out of sight.

Actual running time varies depending on how many girls are out that day.

In all honesty though, I run until I'm feeling gassed, then walk a bit to recoup, then start runing again. I think that right now, on a four mile trail, I'm running (jogging) just under 3 and a half miles of it.

Welp, I haven't been super dedicated, but neither have I been binging. I still need to add more exercise in, but it's a vicious cycle..... I'm tired so I don't do it, but I know that if I get my metabolism up by exercising that problem will be solved. I need someone who badgers me into it, lol.

I stepped on the scale this morning for the first time in two weeks, hands over my eyes, sure that I'd gained..... to see that I've lost another two pounds!

I'm convinced that this eating plan really, really works. It seems to have gotten my metabolism up, that's for sure. I think it's also gotten me used to a lower caloric intake.

So, upward trends are still good, right? Sigh. I just want to be doing so much better than I am right now.

I'm still at 10 pounds lost.

It's the 40:30:30 plan (like The Zone or the Diabetic Diet). The idea is if all of your meals are 40% protein, 30% fat and 30% carbs then it puts your blood sugar into the stable sweet spot that sends your metabolism up and makes you burn fat.

I also like it because I eat a lot of good food..... fruit, eggs, cottage cheese, tuna, and my favorite, yummy smoothies! :yum:

...and somehow I've got my body fooled into thinking that 1200 calories a day is actually enough and it doesn't get hungry.

I think this means a total of 28 pounds lost.

woot, woot!

Oh, I left out the best part!

The book I bought is full of recipes. They do all the math for you, until you feel secure enough to make your own meals. I still use the book after 2 months. lol

I ran 3 miles today, and afterwards did 30 more minutes of Sprinting up and down stairs. I'm switching to a more HIIT(High Intensity Interval training) and anaerobic workouts that is more in line with boxing and muay thai training. It burns off Fat like the fiery furnace that Shadrach, Mishac, and Abednego survived.

I just don't have the energy for that. Well, I might if I jogged slowly for 3 miles. Energy is one of the main things I feel is lacking with my body as it is now.

Things to be improved:
1. Drop a bit of BF%
2. lose fat/gain muscle in chest/back/stomach areas (my fat really loves to stay in my stomach area)
3. gain muscle in arms (legs are fine, although a bit more muscle would be fine)
4. gain energy
5. get some speed

Well, last week I was walking every night, but then Friday I got my...*dramatic echo*...DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION GAME!! My son and I have been SO excited while waiting for it to come! We didn't even eat dinner, we just went right to work getting it set up. I think we played on it till about 7:30 or 8:00 before I told him he HAD to stop and have something to eat lol. We've been playing it every day, it's so much fun and such awesome exercise. I've never found anything that got me all hot and sweaty and wasn't miserably boring or unpleasant. I found it now!! I plan to do at least 30 minutes every night on it.

Haven't weighed in for a few days due to impending period...bleh...Bloat City.

Yaaaay Inkabink!!

So yesterday I was really dragging (middle of the night migraine) so I rolled out of the house about 10 ish in my PJ's that I didn't really sleep in, no makeup and sunglasses and good LORD how I needed some coffee!

I went to Krispy Kreme's, ordered a medium coffee..... and a doughnut. :sorry:

I love doughnuts, but I usually went to Dunkin' Doughnuts. That is, once upon a time, when Molly ate doughnuts. They have ah-mazing blueberry cake ones. ANYWAY, I ordered one from KK hoping it would be half as good. I took one bite of the sugar infused, bland, icing drenched catastrophe, and something happened to me that I can only compare to an ice cream headache, the taste of metal, nails on a chalk board and the way your jaw feels when you eat something really really sour. All at once.

All of this is to say...... this incident alone may have ruined me on doughnuts (and most sugary delicacies in general) forever.

I've always had this monstrous sweet tooth.... is it possible that eating healthy as a habit for a while can make that go away??
