  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Biggest loser on CF.....

I didn't answer spicy's other question, my bad.

I looked for several weeks online to get ideas of what I wanted in a bicycle. I decided to go with a comfort series bike, which is a bike with an upright riding position that is easier on the back. The handle bars are higher than the seat, where on mountain bikes and road bikes, they are lower to give that forward lean to help with speed.

Price was a bit of a concern I wanted something affordable, yet I wanted something that was of good quality. I stayed away from WalMart and stock to specialty bike stores so I could get help with getting the bike fit to me and my needs.

I decided to go with the Giant Cypress ST. I went with the stainless over the aluminum because it was 1. cheaper and 2. I am huge, so I felt the added strength of aluminum would be a bonus.

I am taking it to work with me today. There is a like 100 yards from the parking lot that has 9 mile paved bike trail going around it. I am going to ride that today.

I rode it last night, first before purchasing at the shop, and then then when I got home. I spent about 20 minutes in the saddle and my back was not bother me. I feel this will be a much better option than walking/jogging for me at this time.

That crazy, I was guessing you'd get a Giant.

Just from all the reading and whatnot I did years ago, Giant was always the best value when considering quality for the cost.

EDIT: NM, I read that stainless/aluminum line sdrawkcab.

Did you get one of those sproingy seat things?

Yeah, the seat is spring and really soft. It has the padded gel seats.

I rode for a bit this afternoon after work. I didn't ride long, and my legs, arms, abs, etc... were all on fire. I was dead. It was just proof how bad of shape I was in.

I had a good time, though, and am going to try it again tomorrow.

I've gone walking several times. My problem is that the two friends I've been walking with both burn out before I do; so I've started coming earlier and staying later. Hopefully I'll be able to keep it up!

Still losing, btw.

I'm doing really well with my food, except for these past couple days. I just kind of forget to eat. Today I've only had about 300 calories so far.

I'll eat one big meal this evening and be back on track with the several smaller meals tomorrow, though.

So, my co-worker and I told one of our bosses about our 30-day challenge. She said she would match the money we are putting into it. That means, if I win and my co-worker loses, I will win $160. If we both win our sides of the challenge, we both will walk away with $80 ($40 of our own and $40 matched by our boss).

I'm down 2lbs. only 8 more to go.

I get so weak after giving blood now. I didn't feel good for a week after this last time, and the time before that (last august) I fainted the next day when I was at the gym (After the workout).

I think that I will give blood once a year now, not the four times a year that I had planned on.

Riding the bike, I am starting to realize just how bad of shape I am in, lol.

The good thing is, I have only really been changing my eating habits since Monday. Tonight, I realized how much my stomach has shrunk already. I couldn't eat half the amount of food I had been consuming the past several months.

It was still more then I need to consume, but I am getting there. I am working my way down to where I need to be.

I'm doing really well with my eating. Exercise is another story, tho. I've been trying to be more active around the house, tho - doing yardwork when I get home in the evenings.

I'm extra motivated to reach my goal and then some by the middle of next month. I am going to be going boating with some long-time friends to Peanut Island so I need to look halfway decent in a swimsuit.

The way you've been working out, I would venture a guess that you are well on your way to where you want to be, no?

nah. still fat.

In a bit of a jam too. I don't sleep well if I'm not lifting weights. And I need 3000+ calories to support the lifting. It's hard to get that many calories without a bunch of fat and it's really difficult to get bigger and smaller at the same time.

yay protein shakes. /sarcasm

Ummm...why not just focus on weight loss first and then worry about bulking up/getting cut?

need sleep.

Working out is the only thing that helps me sleep by wearing me down and shutting my brain off.

It's pretty much an addiction.

But I'm in a good place with that.

Meh. They gym is a chore for me. I wish it didn't feel that way.

You could just do like I do and survive on 4-5 hours of sleep a night.

The weight lifting is also good for burning more on a permament basis. That is a lot of the reason I am focused on it now. I am wondering if I shouldn't in a bit try to do some cutting or just something to hit my bad zone (my stomach). I would probably look presentable if I just had a better stomach.

I've been a slouch this week. Did a little weight lifting, but not much. I haven't been to the gym cuz someone got my spot with my personal trainer, and it got me frustrated. I hope to go tonight and I have an appointment tomorrow with my trainer so....
