  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Everything. The whole thing started because of the 9th (no lying). If the 2nd (observe the Sabbath) can be broken without consequence, the same can be said about the 9th.

No, it's not "everything."

Why don't you just fess-up and admit that you're using this discussion to vent & ridicule God and His people?

I'll ask you a second time.

What does any of this have to do with who does and who doesn't keep any particular commandment?

If my wife gave me a list of ten things to buy at the grocery store, and I tore that list up for some reason, and she told me to come back home and she would give the list again, and she did, and also added ten other things on another list; what does that have to do with how many items are on the list, if I don't buy all the items on it?

If I don't buy two of the items of her original ten, does that mean she only gave me eight things to buy?

Is that what you resort to every time you lose an argument? I am ridiculing no one. I will address the rest of your message when the ten commandments become a shopping list.

This is funny ^_^ We have one person saying the 10th commandment is about false witness, and another saying Christians can break the Sabbath ^_^ (These are inside jokes of undoubtedly geek status of a high order, but funny nonetheless)

Settle down, razer. It's not that funny.

And I'm not losing an argument, either.

For the record, my foray into the ten commandments started when you asked what they were, here (emphasis mine):

You should see my definition of "Trinity!" It's a real work of art!

If you have a better definition, let's hear it.

Usually when a paper is graded, the real answers are included. You just don't mark an answer "wrong," without giving the correct one.

Unless you're you, I guess.

So, you asked what the "other" version of the ten commandments was and I simply gave it to you. Now, all of a sudden, this becomes off-topic and is "ridiculing", yeah, right.

Does Bigfoot follow the big 10?

I. I [am] the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage. Thou shalt have none other gods before me.

II. Thou shalt not make thee [any] graven image (more relevant today than we give this one credit for!)

III. Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain

IV. Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee

V. Honour thy father and thy mother

VI. Thou shalt not kill.

VII. Neither shalt thou commit adultery.

VIII. Neither shalt thou steal.

IX. Neither shalt thou bear false witness against thy neighbour.

X. Thou shalt not covet (paraphrased)

Of the Ten Commandments that were carved in stone and taken down the mountain by Moses, the tenth was a ban against cheeseburgers, the second half of Exodus 34: 26 "26 “Bring the best of the firstfruits of your soil to the house of the Lord your God. Do not cook a young goat in its mother’s milk."

Well not just cheeseburgers, but a ban against cooking any meat with milk, which would include cheeseburgers.

These are ten MORE commandments, in addition to the Ten Commandments that God rewrote for Moses.

God rewrote the first 10 commandments, and Moses wrote the ten additional ones in Exodus 34.

In all, there are 613 commandments.

Not according to the first verse of Exodus 34:

34 The Lord said to Moses, “Chisel out two stone tablets like the first ones, and I will write on them the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke.

So according to that the Ten engraved on the stone tablets were the same ten he brought down the first time from the mountain.
