Big kid bed

My son was over 2 .... my daughter is 14 months and still in the crib. She likes it... someone gave us their old crib, so we're going to use that for the baby due next month and let them each have a crib. Probably when my daughter turns 2 years I will move her to a regular bed.

Remy's 10 months and sleeps on his mattress by my bed, but that's because his room is being used for storage right now and his crib won't fit in our room. lol The only problem is that he cimbs up in our bed and sleeps with us sometimes. We sleep on a raised air mattress, so it's not a major event that he does this. lol

Eerhm...it went really well until he fell out of bed. He slept through it so I guess you could still say it went okay. His bed when you take the side post off is really, really close to the floor so I laid a couple of pillows down with some blankets so that if/when he fell, he would land on them. He fell, rolled and stayed asleep. I had Jesse put the side back on @ 2 this morning! I went and bought a bed rail tonight, though so we will try it again later on. He was so excited to be able to climb in and out of his bed, though!

Mine were all over the map and transitioned to all different types of bed. I think the earliest was around 18 months to a toddler bed pushed up next to our bed. Other than our first and our 4th- all the kiddos were either in a toddler bed or a twin bed before age two, because the next baby was coming. The 4th just stayed in the pack n, play with an added foam rubber "matress" until around age 3, because she was in the room with all of the other kiddos and I didn't have room for another bed...however now she is in a queen bed with her 5 year old sister.

I don't think there's any "right" answer--just what is right for each child and each family. I think you should focus on making a safe sleep space--most likey there wil be an adjustment period, and there will be getting up and out of bed for a couple weeks- but then that will pass.

Emily got a toddler bed for her 2nd birthday. I got her one with Dora on it and she loves it! She still sleeps in a crib at her daddy's house as far as I know, but she still sleeps very well in her toddler bed here so I'm not going to complain about it.
