The Big Day Out festival is the largest of its kind in Australia with up to fifty bands playing on over five stages in front of 50,000 people. Metallica headlined the bill this year in what was widely considered to be one of the festival's best and most successful lineups to date.

Hard rock giants AC/DC are strongly rumored to have been confirmed as the headlining act of Australia's Big Day Out 2005 festival. Other bands rumored to be playing the festival include System Of A Down, Green Day, Scissor Sister, The Rasmus and Mortal Sin.

We have a Big Day Out in Auckland in January of each year, too. Last time the main act was Black Eyed Peas but I haven't heard yet who's coming to headline it this time. Should be good, though - people turn out in their thousands to attend it.

Pretty good set of local bands, but the list of international bands isn't as appealing as I would have thought - only Green Day and The Beastie Boys really interest me out of those listed.

Pretty weak lineup (AC/DC as a headline act ?). I heard that Slug will be there (for the full tour) though, so that will probably be something decent.

I thought the lead singer for AC/DC had some kind of problem with his throat and couldn't perform anymore. I guess not, obviously, but I wonder who I'm thinking about...
