• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Big CF change

c. Changing the way moderators are appointed - the members decide! There will be forum moderators, category moderators, and then super moderators. Members nominated, members vote, members appointed. Appointments are for a 12 months - at the end, can be renominated, or not. The power is with the people. And yes, if you are not a Christian, you can be on staff, if people vote for you to do so. The whole process will be open, transparent, and clear. What about current staff? They will all have to be renominated and voted in at some stage.

OH. MY. STARS. AND. GARTERS!

I am simply speechless. :)

I'm pleasantly surprised. It's a shame more Christians don't share Erwin's philosophy.

I like the idea of having Atheist mods and a more transparent appeals process. There was a poll on GA a while back and Non-Christians outnumbered Christians almost exactly 2:1 with over 100 votes. Also sometimes it feels like a mod is going after you. Recieving warnings a month or more after the thread in which it was posted died, getting warnings for calling Bush an idiot, or getting warnings for blasphemy because you said Jesus was probabbly just a regular man. All of those things were very lame.

Not to sure about letting everybody post in the Christian only sections though. I kinda liked browsing thru those and watching the hawt Christian on Christian action.

I totally relate! What is the point in handing out warnings and infractions on old posts that nobody complained about days or even weeks after they have fallen off the charts and gone idle? It's happened to me.

I also like to watch Christians discuss certain issues...and I probably won't butt in even with the new rules. I read more than I post anyway.

Huge changes!

Those in same-sex marriages can even call themselves married now

Wow.

Color me impressed. I was worried that the rule changes would result in something more strict.

Yeah, I was thinking there might be some draconian crackdown. Turns out to be a very forward thinking policy.

Suprised and impressed.

Well, there goes the neighborhood.

I'm SO excited to elect non-Christian mods! I've already got a list going. And the same-sex marriage icons and Christian badges for anyone who wants one? This is the best. ^_^

These changes are exciting, embrace your new freedom.

Rather then starting a new thread I'll just drop a note in this one, as far as the rules situation goes, new ones are being drafted up but for the time being the old ones still stand, no warnings or infractions are to be issued. We may still ask you to edit posts which are flames etc.

If you have any questions drop them in this thread and I or somebody else will try and answer them or pass on relevant info. I'd stay clear of the thread in announcements, it's depressing.
