American citizens have every right, even a duty, to participate in American elections. This charge is totally bogus on its face yet it is repeated as the talking point du jour.

The op seems to be suggesting that former IC members are not free to express a collective opinion.

Yep, expressing their opinion is "interfering" somehow. SMH.

President Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign colluded with U.S. intelligence agencies to rig the election by discrediting and helping censor the Hunter Biden laptop scandal, according to an explosive report Wednesday from the House Judiciary and Intelligence committees and the select subcommittee on the weaponization of the federal government.
Please explain how a statement issued by former intelligence agents equates to "colluding with US intelligence agencies". If they're former intelligence agents, that means that they are now private citizens (and were when they issued the statement), correct? We see plenty of retired military, intelligence, legal, and political figures go on to use their qualifications to influence the public - as TV commentators, in think tanks, as authors, etc. This isn't any different.
Five days after the Post story, 51 former intelligence community officials, using their official titles and citing their national security credentials, released a public statement suggesting the story “ha[d] all the classic earmarks” of Russian disinformation.4 Three days after that, Vice President Biden used this public statement in a nationally televised presidential debate to rebut President Trump’s criticisms, asserting “there are 50 former national intelligence folks who said that what this, he’s accusing me of is a Russian plan.”5 What has not been examined, until now, is how 51 former federal employees with intelligence and national security credentials came together to insert themselves into the thick of the presidential campaign
Why is this a mystery? There are a heck of a lot more than 51 retired members of the intelligence community in this country. It's no stretch that some have remained in contact with each other, and that at least some of those know people still involved in government (such as Biden's campaign advisors). And it's also no stretch to imagine that ~50 of them would also not be fans of Trump, and be interested in leveraging the credibility lent by their qualifications in order to try to influence the public in their capacity as private citizens.

What report? Not the one in the OP - are you introducing something off topic?
The point is everything the right wing people says about Biden and his family, proves be wrong. Massive election fraud was proven to be a lie. So, the Rightwing news source is not to be trusted.

Summary dismissal does not equate to reality. I could easily quote my signature regarding the Current Trump investigations and summarily dismiss them.

But that would not be accurate, nor Justice.

I would have hoped they had the integrity to not sing their name to claims they had no knowledge of nor researched, but did it as part of the good ole. Plus club because Joe needed help in a debate

I mean, I'd hope that too, but - true or not - I don't see how it would merit an investigation. Private citizens exercised their right to free speech. End of story.

The Biden campaign also received massive help from dark money superPACs, various endorsements, and mean tweets about Trump. But like this letter from former officials, there's nothing illegal, unethical, or underhanded about any of it.

There was also that guy that posted the "Riden' with Biden" meme a lot.

opinions differ - A Candidate is preparing to enter a debate - bad news comes out about his son - Candidates campaign chairman calls in favors from people entrusted with America's protection - They state an opinion not based on their examination of the evidence, not based on credible witnesses, but based on being asked to come to Candidates defense -

If you don't view that as dirty politicking - then nothing is. IMHO

No need for hyperbole. They're retired - they're not entrusted with anything besides keeping any secret information they may retain in their heads secret.
- They state an opinion not based on their examination of the evidence, not based on credible witnesses, but based on being asked to come to Candidates defense -
This is, itself, an opinion.

Is "dirty politicking" illegal? Again, assuming that your opinions of what happened are correct, I'd hope for better as well. But you've brought up nothing that would warrant an investigation. Seriously, what is there to investigate here? What laws or guidelines or ethics regulations were broken?

Do we need to convene a House investigation any time Donald Trump tells a lie? What about when Clarence Thomas's lawyer friend writes an op-ed about how he did nothing wrong? Or for every instance of General Flynn carrying Trump's water? A private citizen expressing an opinion - even if it's based on incorrect or incomplete information - does not violate any laws, regulations, or ethics standards.

No - that is stated as fact in the article posted.
The actual facts in the House report suggest otherwise (it was part of the motivation, but not the entirety, and not for all of them), but this is irrelevant to the point that there is nothing here that merits investigation. Again, please point out what laws, regulations, or ethics guidelines were violated.

As many as 17 percent of those who voted for Democrat Joe Biden might have chosen differently at the polls, had they been given fair media coverage of the candidates in the weeks leading up to the election, according to a report.
This poll is from 2 years ago. And 1750 subjects, spread over 6 or so states, is an insignificant sample. With the exception of Trump's peanut gallery, nobody cares about Hunter Biden. And it strains credulity to think that 51 intelligence agents--who are unknown to most of the public--could influence a nationwide election. That's the feeblest and most preposterous excuse for losing an election I've ever heard. Donald Trump lost the election because he was despised by the largest voting block in the country----women. I recently posted some exit polling data in a different thread. Trump beat Joe Biden among men 49% to 48%. But among women, Biden won 56% to Trump's 43%. That's millions of votes. And the NY jury just nailed him with a $5 million judgement for sexual abuse. Donald Trump's political career is done. Conservatives will have to find a better candidate.

Not according to polls. It is textbook election influencing.

CIA 'may have assisted in obtaining signatories' for letter discrediting Hunter Biden laptop: House GOP report

The Central Intelligence Agency "may have assisted in obtaining signatories" for the letter signed by 51 former national security officials discrediting the Hunter Biden laptop as Russian disinformation ahead of the 2020 presidential election, the House Judiciary and House Intelligence Committees found.
The House Judiciary Committee, its subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, and the House Intelligence Committee are expected to release a report this week titled: "The Hunter Biden Statement: How Senior Intelligence Community Officials and the Biden Campaign Worked to Mislead American Voters."
The report states that the letter "was a political operation to help elect" Biden, and claims that the Biden campaign "took active measures to discredit the allegations about Hunter Biden by exploiting the national security credentials of former intelligence officials."

I’m pretty sure that American citizens are legally permitted to influence elections.

More Americans influencing an election seems like it ought to be a goal, not something that lands people in gaol.

It is textbook election influencing.
So is airing an attack ad or publishing an endorsement. Neither is illegal or otherwise improper.

That part of the report was troubling and should be investigated. Apparently, at least one of the people who signed the letter heard about it in advance from one of the CIA officers who reviewed it under the Agency's publication review system (which any publication from current or former CIA officers must go through so that it may be checked for classified information). He was having his own separate work reviewed and happened to have his work cleared the same day that the letter was sent in - the person who notified him also told him about the letter and asked if he was going to sign it. It should be noted that the authors of the letter found this troubling as well. Active members of the intelligence community should stay out of politics.
The report states that the letter "was a political operation to help elect" Biden, and claims that the Biden campaign "took active measures to discredit the allegations about Hunter Biden by exploiting the national security credentials of former intelligence officials."
Again, please explain what is wrong with this. Why does it warrant an investigation? What laws, regulations, or ethical guidelines does it violate?
