Good news for America:

President Biden announced on Thursday he was able to help broker a tentative rail deal between freight railroads and workers that averted a potential strike.

The agreement, brokered by administration officials, was seen as a major victory as a strike would have wreaked havoc on the nation's rail system and further disrupted supply chains during a period of economic uncertainty.

Here are three things to know about the deal and how it got done:
Under the terms of the five-year deal, which is retroactive to 2020, the Associated Press reported that workers will receive a 24% pay increase and $5,000 in bonuses. Railroads also promised to ease scheduling policies.

The agreement comes as the rail industry has seen profits boom during the pandemic and as rising geopolitical risks, particularly given Russia's war with Ukraine, have put additional strain on U.S. supply chains.
...
Labor Secretary Marty Walsh secured a tangible and substantial policy victory for the Biden administration.
...
The deal nearly didn't happen, Politico reported, and Walsh negotiated around the clock to get it done.

Might have been more of a hero if he had done this after the strike had happened (but the wrong people may have lost money). But at least he gets those all essential political brownie points for making a deal with friends where their common build back better agenda of the WEF is pulling the strings. This has been their way all along. Claim a threat is at hand, then step in to profit and make themselves look like saviours (ironically from themselves) in doing so. People fall for this nonsense.

That's the thing; he's not looking to be a hero; he just got it done. Yes, Trump would have been constantly speaking out, stirring the pot, making it look horrible. Then when the strike happened, he'd go to Congress to get a bill to stop it. He craves attention and wants to be the hero.

Biden just quietly worked with the railroads and the unions and got it done before a strike happened. Being a hero wasn't part of the deal. It's not Biden's motivation.

Which to Trump and people like him, is just incomprehensible.

Rail deal: 3 things to know about the agreement that averted a strike
A senior engineer drives the train. He gets $80,000. Starting pay is lower.

According to the BLS, 1.1 million workers were paid $7.25/hr or less in 2021.

I've made my point

Probably so.

Engineers don't like to say "drive." They "operate" the train.
The railroads are working to try to automate every part of the railroad system as wages have become too expensive. The mining industry is working to develop self driving dump trucks for use in open pit mines. They are used in an iron mining operation in Australia.

...the American voters? Yes. That's us.
True enough, but have you noticed they have taken it to extremes and think that just because one side is loudest on the internet that they should be the majority also thanks to their definition of democracy, while at the same time trying to eliminate the voice of opposition (fire them) which of course is not democratic. Silly people.

U.S. rail strike averted, but labor deal faces tough union votes
"If they accept the deal that was announced at about 5 a.m. (0900 GMT), workers whose pay had been frozen would win double-digit increases and would be allowed to seek certain types of medical care without fear of being punished, union leaders said. The agreement also includes an immediate 14.1% wage rise.

Workers have gone three years without a raise amid the contract dispute, with talks stalling over attendance, sick time and scheduling issues. Only two of 12 unions - representing less than 10% of the workforce - are known to have ratified new contracts with freight railways."

So not bad.. sad its been on going for about 2 years now

Almost ever time yet praise GOD for it. Well any press is good press. Lets speak truth no on fired anyone. No one fired Obama, no one fired Bush on and on. Its just those that voted this time no one will ever see tens of thousands when Joe comes out to talk. Not like as of late 90k,60k, sold out places then thousands out side.
