This can't be a surprise to anyone....

Imagine that one party spends 6 years painting the other party as racist, bigoted, and xenophobic white supremacists who not only hate you....but want to do nothing to help you eith the very real problem of justice, economic opportunity, education, etc....and the party telling you this is going to help you with all these things.

Then the moment you vote that party into power, you're immediately poorer because of economic mismanagement and inflation. The jobs available are the same low paying back breaking jobs available under the previous party. The only change in your child's education is that he/she is now depressed because they're told that being black is a disadvantage and the US is racist against them. Suicide rates in your children are up for the first time in decades. Despite big talk about "reparations" for years you realize it's never going to happen because although this new party formed committees to "explore" the idea, all recommendations are shot down for being too expensive....while billions of dollars are thrown at a new war in some place you don't care about.

Let's not forget that despite being told that the "border crisis" was fake for 4 years...you now have tens of thousands of unvetted illegals have been moved into your communities, given a free place to live, free food, free medical care...on your dime....and the same party that claimed to want to help you wants to get these newcomers jobs asap...despite the fact that their asylum was denied if they bothered to attend the hearing.

Oh, and let's not forget the skyrocketing crime rates that you haven't seen since the 80s or 90s and the school teachers want your 8yo to explore their sexuality and gender.

The only thing surprising about this is that it's only about a 10% swing. These groups haven't benefitted in any way from Biden. Even the new race hustlers like Cullors and Kendi were doing better under Trump lol...they're now reportedly broke.

This is a great example of what I mean when I refer to conservatives, red hats in particular, fetishizing phrases and imbuing them with rhetorical power they lack outside their own tribe.

Interesting info in that poll. For example, the large jump in "unfavorable" responses to "In general, is your general impression of Donald ...". Or the nearly 50% of respondents who said "committed a crime" when asked about how Donald handled the result of the 2020 election". Or the 50% who say they don't trust the GOP house investigation of Biden to be impartial.

But sure, ignore that and let's focus on the change in groups with the smallest sample size (and thus largest error bars). Missing the forest for the trees, perhaps?

I'd be interested if a larger sample size would produce the same results. It's possible it would, but in the context of a poll involving 814 people, and only 38% (310 people) were in those three aforementioned demographics, it's one of those scenarios where it doesn't take much to move the needle.

In that scenario the difference between 63% and 47% means that there were 49 who said used to like Biden, but now aren't so crazy about him anymore, and the 10% increase for Trump would mean 31 people like him more than they used to. (and I would venture guess that there's a lot of overlap there between those two subsets)

Depending on the timing of "Before and After" polls, and that Biden lost more than Trump picked up, perhaps some of it can be attributed to Cornel West tossing in hat in the mix.

DNC Officials Are Freaking Out Because They Can’t Get Enough Minorities To Represent Them

High-ranking officials at the Democratic National Committee (DNC) are expressing significant worries that the committee is not meeting its self-established minority representation goals, Politico reported.

Six present and former committee members are increasingly fretting about the lack of desired diversity among delegates selected to attend the 2023 DNC convention, according to Politico. At the same time, President Joe Biden’s campaign is hemorrhaging minority support, which is crucial for securing a second term. Diversity numbers among delegates trigger alarm at DNC meeting

“I keep looking at these diversity goals in big states like New York, like California. And, for some reason, whether it’s the African American community, Black community, the LGBTQ+ community, or Hispanic community, [the] numbers continue to decrease,” Donna Brazile told her colleagues at a recent committee gathering in Washington, D.C.

The jump in voters who see Biden as "unfavorable" is around 14%.

The jump for Trump is about 10%.

Seems that "jump" comes almost exclusively from the removed "no opinion" answer in the poll. In other words, this is an artifact of the polling question changing.

But sure, a poll where basically half of the people asked think the GOP frontrunner is a criminal is great news for Republicans.

Black Voters’ Support for Democrats Appears To Be Slipping Going Into 2024

President Joe Biden may not be able to lean as heavily on black voters going into 2024 as support for Democrats among some black populations is slipping, according to Politico.

In both polls and recent elections, Republicans have been increasingly able to draw votes from a group that has long been Democrats’ most reliable source of support, leaving Biden unable to assume his path to a win will look the same as it did in 2020,

I'd rather just focus on the topic of this thread.

Is that a problem?
