David shook? As in scared? I think not! According to the song, David shook and then the Lord took his hand and that must've made him still or calm enough to conquer Goliath.

How would you feel if you came up to face a giant who could break your neck without a thought? Notice the actual wording of the song: firstly I imagine and until You took his hand. David would not have went to face the giant if God never told him that He would fight for David. David said that God of the Israelities would defeat the giant, in other words, it was God's fight (1 Sam 17:45).

Me, I might be pretty scared but the song doesn't talk about me, it talks about David. It was God's fight but David was the human being doing the actual physical aspect of that fighting... but still there are no words in 1 Samuel 17 to put a hint of fear in David's voice. Nothing. David spoke of defeating the bear and the lion like they were mice and every word about David shows he was 100% confident. We cannot read into what he may have felt otherwise. He could also have been cold for it may have been a chilly day but we can't assume that. Whoever wrote the song for Avalon assumed he was scared because we as mere humans more than likely would be... but David was more than we are. God had David's hand in an extraordinary way before he ever even arrived on the scene where the fight with Goliath was.

There was no fear. Now listen, all I'm doing is pointing this out, I am not putting down the song or the band or the songwriter. It's just that people should be aware or any possible errors in Christian lyrics.

And I'm sure a song with Christian lyrics would NEVER contain error...because we know that 'Christian' songs are actually written by the hand of God Himself, and not fallible man.

You're not serious about that, are you? There are books and essays all the time written by "Christians" that state things which go AGAINST the Word of God. But you insist this could not happen in Christian music? How come music is written by God Himself but not books? God's Word is Truth but words in song lyrics and books and essays come from the mind of man inspired by God's Word, often intending to lift Him up and praise Him... but they they can contain errors because man is not perfect.

Without any hint that what's being said is sarcasm, sometimes comments simply don't come across as such. If you look at what he wrote, that could EASILY be a statement made by a Christian who believes it 100%.

Unless sarcasm is blatant, gotta drop a hint!

Well, I thought the 'fallible man' line might have given it away, but sorry for not being more upfront about my sarcasm. But hey, no harm, no foul.

Can we get a 'sarcasm smiley' in here please?

What?
Like who secretly blessed who?
John The Baptist... in the poker room... with.. the sword of Goliath.. (1 Samuel 21:9 used to defend David...)

(Note that close to nothing in this post is biblically founded, except well, the Bible verse.)
(Yay for a 100th post, about Clue in heaven, no less!)

You know, once we're all in heaven we WILL totally hit them up for a game.

And... considering they lacked foosball in the B.C.E., we should rock the joint.

Don't EVEN get me going on foosball.........I got a foosball table for Christmas when I was like 10, so I'd smoke the disciples, and any one of the major or minor prophets.

Elders schmelders!

Much more of this and you might suffer the same fate as those poor youngsters....mauled by She-Bears! If you make fun of old people, God sends bears out of the sewers and from roofstops to damage you into respecting those wiser than you :p

maybe the title of this thread should be changed since it's way off topic...

I'm totally baking tree of life cookies when I get to heaven. They'll be sweet. Can I knit a sweater or something?
I'm not any good at fooseball or tether ball...how about scatergories? I'm pretty good at that game. I could totally beat a lot of people in that...except maybe Solomon. But maybe all his wisdom wouldnt' do him much good in that game.

Dude.
Scattergories & Scrabble.
Those are my games.
And who's up for a round of Rummy?

Oh yeah.
What about those biblical errors in Christian song lyrics?

I told you all before...Christian song lyrics are not in error. God wrote them all.

And I'm up for a round of Rummy, but only if we follow it up with a good game of Spades.

I'll take Jesus on my team, he'd always end up with the Aces.

And I've got sweet ninja moves, too.

I wonder if Ninjas go to heaven....

We could let them participate in a heavenwide game of Baldersash!

GOD did not write all of these "so called" Christian songs. In fact I heard one that came out a year or so ago by Kirk Franklin. The song is called "Hosanna". In the song Kirk yells out, "What's His name?" and they reply
"Hosanna, forever". This is NOT JESUS name! In fact, this is what the Jews said to JESUS a week before HE was crucified. So PLEASE don't tell me that GOD is writing, or saying all of this stuff, because much of it is not Biblically sound.
