Do you think that this essentially advocates marriage by another name, as long as commitment is involved.
no agenda here, please dont ask.
I don't think so either.
Marriage seems to have been "invented" by God, which means He gets to define the terms. Scripture alludes to various rules, and to go outside and permit what God does not, and call it marriage, seems to violate His right to define marriage.
If the social/governmental agencies wish to redefine some kind of contract or arrangement with whatever social or legal aspects they wish, then I don't see where that is addressed in Scripture, and society and governments typically do what they want anyway.
I just think "Holy Matrimony" should mean "Holy Matrimony" ... if you want to develop a limited/unlimited legal contract with whatever terms you like, go ahead, but please don't try to redefine marriage when doing it. (I also think such changes as a limited legal contract are hardly the right environment for raising children within, but that's another topic.)
But that's like inventing combination of herbs and oils that one swallows to join a particular social caste - fine, but don't call it the "Eucharist".
I hope that makes sense, and doesn't sound antagonistic. JMO of course.
