  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Oh wow what a coincidence, I had a couple of Bob’s seminary classes. This guy is really good and he was my favorite teacher. Nice to see someone programmed some of his studies into the e-sword reader. You can listen to some of his commentaries at www.blueletterbible.org , good stuff.

http://www.zeitun-eg.org/freewidx.htm - has the Douay-Rheims, which was "the only official Catholic edition of the Bible available in English until after Vatican II. It is regarded by many to be the best and most reliable translation of the Bible."

Also has a bunch of other Bibles there too.

Oh. So Sword is the Windows Version and E-Sword is the Linux Version?
Nah, E-sword is developed by someone else. E-Sword is for Windows. I am going to try that on my PDA though ;)

BibleTime and Sword (The Sword Project for Windows) is developed under Crosswire which is basically a community of developers and testers. The books (modules) are commonly used for all the readers that the community develops. You have Sword, BibleTime, GnomeSword, Jsword, MacSword, Bible+, Micros and QPSword. So for each reader that is developed, they can all use the basic library of books that have been developed (over 250). Hehe I like to point that out. More on the way too :). So basicly if you wanted to use BibleTime you would just download the Sword Project for windows; to use the same modules BibleTime does.

OK. I got Sword and E-Sword, BibleTime has the NAB, which the others dont I think, so how do I combine the NAB from Bibletime to Sword or E-sword?
It won’t work for e-sword since they are an entirely different group of developer/s. Unfortunately I see NAB is locked for copyright reasons. Yes some Bibles are under full copyright and are not freely distributed just like news articles or regular books. Now there is a NAB module for sword but you must be a developer or tester to download it. I happen to be a tester in the project but I’m not allowed to redistribute these locked modules but it is easy to sign up to be a tester or developer and have access to these modules. Basically though, no matter what reader you use, be it e-sword or any reader for that matter, you must pay for the translation or be a tester/developer to acquire this particular translation text.

To install modules for Sword you simply go to this public download site: http://www.crosswire.org/sword/modules/ModDisp.jsp?modType=Bibles and download a “windows” version of the “download” for the modules that are unlocked. If you are using another reader other than Sword for Windows you would download the “raw zip” version of the download (i.e. for BibleTime Linux KDE). The Windows module installation is simple, just click on the file you downloaded and it will self install into Sword for windows.

If you want to volunteer as a tester and possibly have access to locked modules you simply follow the “volunteer” link up at the top of the page and fill out the request. Make sure you use an e-mail account that can be flooded with many news group e-mails if you do this. Also there is a Developer link if you are interested in developing the reader or new modules.

If you must have NAB and prefer to pay for it then there are some other readers from other developers that may have the module. Often they will cost around US$20.00 but as of yet crosswire has not set up any pay distributions (working on it). Lots of other modules to choose from at this time though.
