  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Welcome to CF!

What are these Bible changes you are talking about?
Idk if you have noticed bro but I know in my heart 100% in Isaiah 11:6 the lion shall lay down with the lamb!! The lion is a symbol of the lion of Judah and the lamb is for Jesus it’s the reason I have a giant lion tattooed on my ribs but the verse now says the wolf shall lay down with the lamb? The wolf is a sign of evil hence the verse beware of wolves dressed in sheep’s wool

Some translations are updated from time to time, but the modern KJV is not one of them.

I believe he's talking about what's been called the Mandela Effect. The big story with the Bible has been that Isaiah used to say the lion will lay down with the lamb, but it's been changed to say the wolf shall lay with the lamb. It's one of the attacks on the reliability of scriptures.

Nothing has changed in Isaiah 11:6. The lion shall lay down with the lamb paraphrases the verse and has become a common misinterpretation of the text.

Oh. Isaiah 11:6 has never said that the lion will lay down with the lamb. Maybe your tattoo got it wrong.

Friend, there are KJV editions going back to the 1800s that say "Wolf" instead of "Lion" in that passage; even in the 1611 edition it is that way. It's never been "Lion." Someone made that up to try and cause a mistrust of God's word, I'm sure. The Bible, specifically the KJV, will never fail you or be wrong; it's God's gift to the english speaking people. It's the Bible that has borne fruit for over 400 years.

Also consider that that passage is a prophecy of the Messianic kingdom, and that all things shall be at peace with one another because Christ shall rule and reign upon the earth. Whether it was wolf or lion in that passage doesn't necessarily matter nor would it change much; the context is about a predator being at peace with it's prey, because all things are subjected to the King of kings and there is ultimate peace upon earth.

Oh. Isaiah 11:6 has never said that the lion will lay down with the lamb. Maybe your tattoo got it wrong.
I think that the Scripture is describing the state of things when Christ is reigning over the new earth and heaven. The current situation where there is conflict between lions, lambs, wolves, kids (young goats) in our present world will change, and the new world will be one of peace and safety. I think the Scripture is talking about peace and safety in the presence of Christ. So it doesn't really matter if it is the lion or the wolf. It is the underlying principle of peace that really matters.

My daughter has a lion tattooed on her arm, and it symbolizes strength and character, and that the lion in Christian thought is a protector of the vulnerable. The lamb is the image of the vulnerable. Jesus is described as the Lion of Judah, who picks up vulnerable lambs in His arms. So I think your tattoo is okay.

You have heard and believed incorrect reading of scriptures for years. And now that you read it yourself, you say that scripture changed. But not....the speakers you heard were just using their own words....it caught on and started being used by all.

"Lion shall lay down with the lamb" is how Isaiah's prophecy has entered our cultural consciousness, but you're right: it's not what the Bible actually says.

There are not a few words and phrases in the Bible that would allow several different translations into English. Bible translation is not a cut and dried thing, with A always equalling B.
