bible binding

I apologise as this is not a theological question. It is in fact fairly shallow. But I felt it fitted into "Christian Scriptures" best- I am happy to be corrected.

what is the best binding for a bible?
Leather right? what type?

why do you prefer the one you prefer?

Is there other things that need to be considered in the cover of a bible?

(I recently lost my bible and after a few weeks of trying I have given up trying to locate it, my wife says she is going to get me a nice one for my birthday)

I would suggest a smyth-sewn Bible, this should help the Bible lie flat.

Another question you might consider is what is your main use of it going to be? If reading, maybe a single-column Bible.

I'd also suggest looking around this site: Bible Design Blog and: evangelicalbible.com-The Best Bibles on Earth though it's a bit expensive, these are really beautiful top of the line Bibles

This above link is to my Bible I carry. Before it I carried a leather like version of the same Bible. I like the feel of leather like but have chosen the durability of leather. For reading and church I like a slim Bible. I have study Bibles that are hardback for at home study. I say go to a Bible store and which ever one feels comfortable in your hand and the font is readable get that one.
