i downloaded every patch!!!!(or tried to)well i bought r2r and it came with some patch....yes i do have it on routers(i think)my dad has a few firewall stuff on it and a whole buncha viris protectore junk....ill go check on those sites....thanks though

Yeah, I highly recommend that you remove BF completely, reinstall BF, then RTR, then the full version 1.45 patch (or install SW if you have it) and see what happens. If you are still getting problems w your connection, check the firewall/router issue.

You haven't played BF until you've played online.

*sniff* i know thats y i got the game(i got it for my b day) are u saying to install the patch while the game is uninstalled? and also will it mess anything up if im trying to download patches and there is a firewall or virus protector running?

No. Uninstall everything BF. Go into My Computer and even manually delete any remaining folders after you've uninstalled. (should be found in Programs > EA Games directory) This will also delete any downloaded mods, maps or saved data but that's ok, you can always redownload them after you have BF running properly.

Once you've uninstalled everything, REINSTALL BF (the basic game), then RTR, and then SW. If you do not have SW download the FULL VERSION 1.45 patch from EA's BF website. Install that patch last.

Now try to play. If you are good w/ single player but have difficulties logging on, seek help in dealing with your router/connection from the BF fansites.

Your firewall shouldn't keep you from downloading the patch.

Good, you will enjoy SW, especially objective mode. Yes, I'd load RTR first but I doubt it would make a difference.

You have to have all three play discs accessible if you are going to be playing. When a map is loaded, the disc of the game it came with is required - this is really, really stupid and I'd bet that Dice is working on it (back in the day, RTR disc could run all games and swapping wasn't required). Expect that to be fixed in a patch someday. If you are sticking to one campaign, it shouldn't be a problem. If you are going to be playing SW maps one time, and then a regular BF map the next, you will have to swap discs, which stinks if you are trying to get on a server that has 1 or 2 open spots remaining.

Here's a little help to get you started:

Make sure that any firewall software is disabled and if using a hardware firewall or router that it is properly configured and is not preventing outgoing requests from your network.

You need to enable port 14567 on your router, and DMZ hosting. This should allow you to view games online.

Allow UDP Port 14567
Allow UDP Port 14690
Allow UDP 22000 (This is only for LAN games, and used by computers on the same network)
Allow UDP range 23000-23009
# GameSpy Master Server UDP Heartbeat:
Allow UDP Port 27900
# GameSpy Master Server List Request:
Allow TCP Port 28900

Your router should have software that allows you to change the settings above. That should get you going!

gosh!!!!! i got the game online but after avery thre min. or so(this is even in single player)it feezes up. or it just disapears and ends up at the windows xp main screen...........is there a way to fox this?

Does this mean you fixed the problem? If not, I highly recommend going to EA's Battlefield website, clicking on the Help button (upper right) and selecting Technical Support for Battlefield - one of the FAQ was crashing to desktop in XP

alright i looked through there and found like three that i thought may fix it......but it didnt work......i figured out its my comp. not the game sound or anything, but i do need to install the latest drivers(im not sure if i have them already) and if that doesnt work........i dont know what to do...... but thank your so much for helping me anyways

Dropping to desktop is usually (not always) display adapter/drivers.
