He(Beto) only mentioned Christians-would mosques and synagogues also be affected in his mind?( I see the article addresses that) I know that Islam and conservative Judaism also do not support same sex marriage. I don't think Beto thinks things through. That Beto is the only one who actually said it does not mean he is the only one for it. I'm sure Beto had a momentary surge in fundraising because of his statement. And the rest will be asked to fall in line or forgo some funding from the shapers of the Democratic Party. In other words, I think Beto's position will coalesce into the required Democratic Party position for 2020. The smart contestants will say just enough to indicate they are holding that position but not enough to alienate the middle of America.
It would be a disaster policy to follow. A political disaster if it was public enough for middle America to figure out. A financial disaster if once elected they actually did it, messing with universities and hospitals and charitable institutions collapsing. But maybe there is the opportunity for socialism to step in and assume those collapsed institutions. I'm not sure they have thought it all through. But I don't think the current Democratic Party cares a bit about electability or about what such a thing would do to the economy. They need to virtue signal in all of the right areas. Thus Beto's 'yes' and thus how every one of them will loudly or quietly agree with him.
Maybe he would only selectively apply it to Christian institutions that did not endorse the full monty of LGBTQWERTY beliefs. Who knows. Adoption agencies that do not place children with that crowd have already been shut down in numerous cities. He(Beto) only mentioned Christians-would mosques and synagogues also be affected in his mind?( I see the article addresses that) I know that Islam and conservative Judaism also do not support same sex marriage. Thankfully he doesn't stand much chance of being the nominee, but yes, I agree, he's not the only one that wants it.
I don't know...if Warren or Biden or Sanders go down in the polls, it's Kamala and Pete just below them in the polls, and then maybe Beto, so I don't know if we're really out of the woods. That tool has been polling at or below 1% for months, I'm not worried about him. At this point he's just the DNC's village idiot who keeps blowing their cover and giving the game plan away to their opponents.

Here's how it would go. Multi-pronged attack.I wonder if the bible will ever be a banned book in the US.
Realistic scenario. Which is why I’m continuing to stock my library now with print books both for that reason you mentioned and in case. The power goes out. Here's how it would go. Multi-pronged attack.
Some day a big online bookseller like Amazon announces they will no longer sell books that are not LGBT compliant. No such book may move through the portal. Most other secular online booksellers will be pressured to do the same. Eventually the brick and mortar secular booksellers will comply as well. That will leave only religious booksellers selling Bibles.
Another prong is to sue religious booksellers if they don't hire LGBT staff. Lawsuits have been used against florists and bakers so why not booksellers and book publishers. Sue them out of existence.
Push the narrative that the Bible is homophobic and unfit to even be owned by polite people. Have Bibles removed from libraries for the same reason. Have community Bible burning parties.
No need to actually search your home for a Bible. Just prevent their sale and make people think the Bible is a vile book that should be gotten rid of. If that isn't fast enough, then we could also get the Hillary re-education camps.
They tick more of the intersectional boxes than Beto.
In Canada the process is much more toned down, and its much shorter: its completed in a matter of a few weeks not over a year or more.
If we could whittle it down
... and for those who are not real persons (corporations/organizations) that spend to influence real persons (humans) ...fines for anyone
That would not be wise and he knows that, I hope. He would possibly lose support among evangelicals and conservative Catholics. I personally do not care for Ivanka I think she is pro-choice among other things. Plus the optics would be bad. I think he will keep Pence, unless Pence quits. He says he won't.Counter scenario: Beto gets paired up with one of the front-runners and is on a ticket as VP.
Also a counter scenario: Trump dumps Pence and runs on a ticket with his daughter as VP, thereby setting her up for a credible run for POTUS in the next round.
I think the short term fundraising gain potential for him is high. He's in the forefront of virtue signalling among the elites that are shaping the Democratic Party. Now the rest of them have to play virtue signalling catch-up.That would not be wise and he knows that, I hope.
He wouldn't get more than ten votes from evangelicals anyway. And conservative Catholics have mostly left the Democratic Party long ago over abortion, so he wouldn't get more than ten votes from them either. He will gain support within the left wing of a left wing party, and this does increase his slim chance of being the nominee. He would possibly lose support among evangelicals and conservative Catholics.
