What is the comparison? if the Intel machine is say a year newer then of course it is faster since CPU:s develop. There are lists on the net where You can see how new the CPU is:

I realize that there are difference with the two computers but it was hard to find an equivilant replacement computer so the old has some things the new doesn't have and the new has some things the old doesn't have.

old computer:

replacement computer:

Lenovo Thinkpad series (formerly IBM Thinkpad). There is no competition, it is designed for work by professionals.

Example:
- The Lid hinges have been robotically tested to open more than 1 million times
- Out of the box, they have better heatsink and thermal design....results in quiet and cooler running machine
- They have a roll cage to protect internal components from drop
- They have a trackpoint (trackpoint is so much better than a touchpad)
- They all come with a built in light.
- They have a real BIOS (you can access almost all of the settings)
- You get a real keyboard with feedback

The thinkpad is simple and elegant. Some of the older thinkpads are still working after more than a decade.

Interesting thanks. I heard thinkpads are interesting. I don't have any experience with Lenovo but I think they are worth looking into.

I won't buy dell. I'll buy certain hp depending on the components of the specific computer but I always buy a good warranty. I have to say though...lately hp seems to have gotten a bit sloppy in workmanship. ...in my experience.

I do like pc gaming and the compatability. Apple / Mac have some good technology but the compatibility isn't there and they keep components that you need to use with their technology pretty exclusive to their company and keep the prices raised.

Long story short. I have pc hp computer but use an iphone and wish to get an ipad air. So depends on what the product is for me.

If I made an os I'd keep it exclusive too. Yea HP's are so cheaply made and junky. I'm using an ibuypower gaming rig. 2tb HD, 16gigs RAM, nvidia gtx 660ti video card, and 6-core.

I never tried the iPad air , but I do rather love my Macbook pro with the retina display. I never enjoyed the iPhones tho, I'm using a motoX.
