hey everyone , i havent posted pics in a while, so i am now, everyone your shots are great. not standard shots at all. ok , here are some pictures i just took on a mission trip i just went on with my youth group to maui, tell me what you think ;)
Your youth group went to maui? I think this "christianity" thing may have something in it after all ;)

From those pics, it looks like quite the trip. My favorite is the guy framed by the two posts. The framing, the clouds, the distance from the subject, it all works together very nicely. The person in the distance actually looks perfect out of focus like this, but I think the foreground objects could be sharpened up a bit, and maybe some of the space to either side cut out.

Don't mean to be overly critical - I only say this because I like it. Keep it up.

SIS, I like that one. Too bad the sky washed out.

Piano Player--

Thanks! I rather like that one. Regarding the sky, it was mostly hazy on the day that I took the photo, with very soft light filtering through, so I set the exposure to pick up the detail on the buildings with the soft light rather than try to do anything with the skies. I too like to have a good dramatic sky for the photos, particularly with black and white; sometimes it just isn't there, and I had to get the photo that afternoon (I was leaving town the next day!).

Thanks again for looking at the image and providing comment, that always helps!

Sam

you CAN always edit your post rather than double posting like that....

Anyway, in the advanced reply section (click reply or Go Advanced rather than just quick replying) there's a button near the bottom that lets you manage attachments. Click on that and manage away!

These are pics I took in Chicago, Illinois (some in some near chicago).
I know they aren't terribly wonderful, but I didn't go just to take pics, so I didn't think much about what I was doing while I was taking them.
Anyway, thanks for looking.

This one was taken through a car window as we drove away from Chicago.

This was taken in Chicago, I think the camera is tipped a bit.

This one was taken in the dark from below. It reminds my sister of a Norman Rockwell painting.

I think I may have woke my cousin up doing this.

I think this one is an awesome pic. The girl 2nd from the left had just painted my cousin's fingernails. Awww.

This is the baseball stadium in Chicago. I think that's the White Sox against the Indians?

And this is the Weber Center on the Olivet Nazarene University campus.

Were you talking to me, Deamiter?
I was using a digital camera actually. Nice camera, but a lot of the pics turn out fuzzy, which isn't fun. So you have to make sure it focuses before you take the pic.

You all have very fine work. My favorite type of photography would have to be nature. It's all together breathtakeing. However, I love black and whites of small children, there is soooo much depth in their spirits, it shines through even onto their faces. Anyways, job well done dear ones! Keep up the incredible work, it is quite obvious that their is much talent in you guys. Be very blessed.

I was the praries this week and caught some of the first spring wildflowers.
that is an excellent shot... simple, and the colors are excellent... i don't know much about photography... but i would like to get into it. I have just started looking at the photography boards... you have a lot of posts here, are you in charge of the photography section of the site? just curious... also, can you recommend a good entry level digital camera... i feel confident about canon's a75 or even a60 if i don't want to spend much... are there better for the money? if you need to know more from me to make a recommendation, just let me know... thanks

Thank you for the compliment on my photo. No, I am not in charge of anything, I just post alot :) There are moderators for each forum, but they are there to keep the flame wars under control. The photography forum is quite tame and I have never seen them intervene. AFAIK, atheists aren't allowed to be moderators for any group because we're too rebelious or something.

I'm actually looking into buying a small point and shoot digital camera myself. I would start the search by looking at Steve's Digicams and DPreview. Steve's has a list of the best bang for the buck in a dozen different categories. I would read the reviews for "Entry Level" and "3 Megapixel Consumer". As far as I'm concerned, 3 Mp cameras come at a very affordable price and have all the power anyone needs for point and shoot.

Good luck with the purchase, and I hope you share what you see with it.
