What do you think is the best mmo out right now?
(I didn't see a thread like this yet so, I had too)

Right now, I've found that City of Heroes is great.
The gameplay is the best I've played yet...
I just got done with Star Wars: Galaxies and I thought it really stunk.
Good idea, but I hate the click to fight stuff.

PS. I've get a question... On WoW, do you just click to fight, or do you pick what powers to use? like in heroes?

Not sure what you mean for WoW. But you have skills, on a skill bar, or several in fact. You can have a ton of skills for many things. But default attack would be clicking, yes.

As far as free online play goes, along with quality, I'd have to say Guild Wars owns the competition. You only have to buy one of the campaigns (Prophecies, Nightfall, or Factions) to start playing online. The more you have, the more character slots you get. I have those three campaigns (Need Eye of the North for a complete collection) and i can have 8 characters. But it's very good, as it's not just about level, but skills, that decide who wins.

Right now? I don't actually know. I've been pretty bored with MMOs lately. Most of them seem too watered down. I need content to keep me interested.

As for the future: Darkfall Online.

Full unrestricted world (no "safe zones")
Complex crafting system
Fully player run economy
Player owned houses (complete with custom designing)
Ship battles
Extremely large world map
Directional and player based combat (No more auto attack in any direction. Fighting will actually take some player skill similar to a game like Oblivion where you have to click to swing)

Of all of them that I have played, EQ was the best, the one that kept my attention the longest. I like WoW but it's a lot less challenging than EQ, though that is changing as they continue to dumb down EQ.

I'm currently in the middle of a DDO trial and I really like it because you have to pay attention to what you are doing and the combat is more dynamic than just turning on an auto-attack feature. Character creation and advancement is pretty cool too. That said, I probably won't buy the game, at least not for a while.

As of yet, WoW has kept me playing the longest. Well, not true, I played Runescape the longest, but most of that time was due in part to being at an impresionable age. :)

As for your question on WoW, you attack by right-clicking the enemy or shooting it from a distance. Basically grabbing a hostile foe's attention.

Star Wars Galaxies was great the first year or two it was out, then some other company started butting in (think it was lucas arts when SOE took it over), and completely ruined the game.

SWG during the first couple of years was the greatest MMO ever made. Ever.

They ALL suck.

Guild Wars is probably the best.

Pi Story looks to be interesting though. Lunia looks like a good concept that wasn't used to its full potential.

Guild Wars IS the best. I have Eye of the North now. Has a lot of new content for lvl 20's and a bunch of difficult quests. And lotsa enemies are around. :D
Not too mention, Guild Wars graphics pawn WoW's.

"Pawn"? Surely you aren't trying to phonetically spell "pwn", as that would be "pone", silly person. :p As for graphics, well...who cares? In any case, WoW's graphics allows for smoother game play.

Isn't it supposed to be "own"? I was under the impression "1337 speak" started as a porn filter dodge, and think of it as just a stupid 00's thing anyway.

"Pwn" derives from "own", popularized by the fact that the P and O keys are next to each other on the keyboard and hence, in the heat of battle, it was common for "own" to be spelled as "pwn". The same applies to "teh" vs. "the".

Ahh, ok. I myself have problems with teh just on the forums. It's still wierd to me though, I played online games in the 90's and no one typed like that. Then again, I played a fairly niche flight sim and an RTS, and usually you either had plenty of time to type or none at all.

I can't believe nobody here mentioned EVE-online?

It's the game that seperates the boys from the men.. so to speak.
The only MMO where PVP is always enabled. Even guild wars can't claim that.
But be warned! Eve has a more extreme learning curve than anything else. And if you are used to mindless games such as WoW this might be quite difficult. There is also no hand holding or protection system in eve. players get ruined everyday. The stackes are high but that also makes the rewards so much better.
