Howdy, I was wondering if any of you guys had any suggestions on a website that gives a pretty good account of early church history?

I haven't searched that hard for one, but the few I have found tend to be unscholarly, very abbreviated, or overly technical. I don't mind the big fancy words if they're explained somewhere for me to reference. Anyways, thanks for any help anyone can provide.

And now for yawn smiley...

Hmmm, I generally don't look to websites for accounts of history. Books are almost always a better medium for such things. Here are the websites that I look to for research material:

http://www.ccel.org/ (in particular look up the Early Church Fathers)
http://www.earlychristianwritings.com/churchfathers.html
http://www.ocf.org/OrthodoxPage/reading/St.Pachomius/

If you want to find books on a particular subject, the following two are some of the best at directing you to the book you need:

http://www.earlychurch.org.uk/about.html
http://www.medievalchurch.org.uk/about.html

There is one website that I know of that gives a brief general survey of Church history, and that is the Orthodox Church in America website. Go here to read it:

Happy hunting.

Yeah I am not a big history a la internet fan either. I'm not that big a fan of any sort of academic information from the internet in general actually. 90% of it seems to be garbage. That's why I came to you lovely people, for that hard to find 10% that is informative and trustworthy! :D

Anyways, thanks for the suggestions. I will certainly look them over.

Oh, and as for books, I tend to have trouble in returning them especially now w/ classes starting. As much as I like paying $3 or $4 per a book each time, I'd prefer not to. But yes, they're definitely much nicer than the migraine-inducing text on the web.
