Good non-Webber musicals? There's loads! Boubil and Schonbourg are really good, they did Les Miserable and Miss Saigon (And Martin Guerre, that's not on anymore but the CD is well worth a listen!)
Jekyl and Hyde is really good, as are Sound of Music, Carousel, The Producers....

Ok this post is old, but I love Phantom so I am going to put my 2 cents in anyway! Lol.

I also like Evita, which I hear is playing in London? (Unfortunately, as I am on the other side of the Atlantic, I have no way of getting there. :p)

His music is cheesy, but it's great to listen to when you just want to relax and don't require anything too complicated! :)

Yep Evita's in London at the moment and the new cast is incredible :)
Oh I wish I could see it. :) Any projections as to how long it will be on? Maybe if I scrimped and saved this year we could go on a little trip next year.

(A relative of mine loved Sunset Blvd so much that he flew to London just to see it and took the next flight back!!! :-o He also saw it close in NY too.)

I'm not sure how long it'll be on.. if it's really popular it'll keep going for a bit! It looks that way at the moment. I've got to say it's not my favourite and I'd much rather he'd brought back Sunset Blvd!

Definitely, probably my 2nd favourite after Phantom! What's your favourite song from it? I have to have two - 'Too Much in Love to Care' and 'Sunset Boulevard'.

My favorite would have to be "With One Look" :)

What is your fav from Phantom (which is #1 in my book! :D)?

That's a great song too, I adore Glenn Close's version :)

Phantom... thats a tricky one because in my opinion all the music is amazing and I like songs for different reasons!
Phantom of the Opera is obviously brilliant and possibly the best theme ever.
Music of the Night is gorgeous and so calming to listen to!
All I Ask of You is one of the nicest love songs ever!
and.. The Point of No Return is so different and amazingly sung.

Ok so that's a cop-out ;) What about you?

I do love the title song. :D

Music of the Night was my wedding song. :)

I read an article once about a philanthropist who adored the play so much that he had a theme wedding. He got someone to make the same wedding dress for his bride as Christine's in the play. He even wore the mask.

Personally, that is what I wanted for our wedding....
but funny how no one would listen to me. :p Lol! :)

Haha yeh in a way I think I'd really like that... but it would be weird :p Christin's dresses are gorgeous. I love the Phantom. I know he's psychologically disturbed, but there's something about a man in a mask :p Have you seen the film with Gerard Butler?

But he is so sensitive and just wanted to be loved. It makes you able to forgive all the murders. Lol! :)

Yes I saw the move. I have a love/....dislike....relationship with the movie. I love the lush filming in Paris. Emmy Rossum was fabulous for the role and the guy who played Raoul was also very good.
I really liked Gerard Butler's acting....but....he couldn't really sing. And isn't that the whole point, after all? Every time he sings I tune out and pretend it's Michael Crawford. :p

What did you think of the way the movie ended? I kinda liked their take on it, actually.
