I think you're confusing this with the Bible's admonitions about handling someone in the church who is in sin and settling a personal dispute.
Remember that the Bible tells us that teachers are held to a higher standard and that there are several instances of false teachers being called out publically.
Quote:
Benny Hinn doesn't need me or anyone else to validate his ministry; "Who are you to judge the servant of another? To his own Master [Christ] he stands or falls" (Rom. 14:4),
You need to go back and read this passage again in it's proper context. If you do, you'll see that it's about condemning weaker brothers in Christ over what Paul calls "disputable matters", not confronting false teachers.
Quote:
so I think we need to adopt Gamaliel's wisdom and realize that "if this...work is of men, it will come to nothing; but if it is of God you cannot overthrow it" (Acts 5:38-39),
Unfortunately, the Bible doesn't give us that option. It tells us to mark false teachers as anathema and have nothing to do with them. In addition, it gives us a responsibility to stand up and speak out against false teachers.
As Jesus said. "there is no one who will perform a miracle in My name, and be able soon afterward to speak evil of Me. For he who is not against us is for us" (Mk. 9:39).
Remember, though, that Jesus was referring to factions among His followers, not to false teachers.
Brother, I'm sorry that you seemed to have missed both the spirit of what I said, and what I believe the Spirit of Truth may have been try to say to you both through what I wrote, and the Scriptures I quoted. I used the verses that I did to convey valid Biblical principles/truths which are supported by the entire word of God, not necessarily to teach the immediate or "near" context of each particular passage quoted. It is the Holy Spirit's applying God's truth to our heart's that causes the Word to become life to us, but the narrowly interpreted, legalist, "letter" of the word that always kills hope, faith, and joy (2 Cor.3:6).
After reading your responses to others, I realize that nothing I or anyone else say is going to convince you to stop sharpening and swinging that axe with Benny Hinn's name on it, so will only ask that you, along with me, pray that God would reveal if one (or both) of us has perhaps allowed the pride of our heart(s) to deceive us from seeing the truth in this matter (Ob.1:3).

Ummm Flesh with all due respect aren't we told that in the last days false teachers will come, many be deceived and etcetera... there are times when we are told to have nothing to do with these kind of people! Ok so it might not outright say to "publicly decry" them but if you feel something is false then shouldn't you at least for the sake of those you love inform them you think it's wrong and have misgivings? At least then you can debate the merits of the doctrine and line it up with Scripture. Where do I see this?flesh99 said:Ok then, show us where we are to publicly decry false teachings in the body? Nothing personal, Tas, but two things come to mind:TasManOfGod said:I often look at some "beleivers" comments about their brothers in Christ and wonder if they REALLY want to be judged in the same manner in which they judge others or forgive others in the same manner that they want to be forgiven.
Firstly I rarely hear of first hand evidence of anything actually been done or said to them in person. Everything they know about the person they condemn usually comes from somebody elses gossip or slander.
I look toward the time that we all come to the place of repentance and straighten our own lives out instead of straightening everybody elses out before our own
Can you show me examples of this "false gospel" you talk aboutischus said:Nothing personal, Tas, but two things come to mind:
1) When there is a message being put out that someone is preaching a false gospel we do have the right to research it- Not gossip, not 'slam' the person, but research it.
2) When Paul or John or others got news of any type of false gospel being preached, although it did not effect them personally, they took offense to it because it was being taught to their loved ones. They did not go and inquire person-to-person.. they simply wrote a letter and spoke the truth. I think that is what is being done here, in the same spirit (for the most part).
