Ben Shapiro stirs controversy by guest writing Politico newsletter

Thought this story was a bit comical...

Apparently, Politico is under fire by their own staffers, and other left-leaning outlets, for allowing Shapiro to guest write their "Playbook".

The reactions, as expected, are "over-the-top".

It basically highlighted a few things:

A) that some folks on the far-left don't have any sincere interest in debating folks with a different viewpoint

B) many in the field of journalism, apparently don't spend a lot of time researching their target of vitriol

For anyone familiar with his content (I listen to podcasts and shows from across the political spectrum), they know that he's been very critical of Trump's claims about a "stolen election", condemned the rioters, and acknowledged Trump's role in "raising the temperature" (as he worded it) with regards to the events that took place at the Capitol.

Tweets from left-leaning journalists ranged from accusing him of being a white supremacist, to "someone who fueled the very lies that led to a violent overthrow." are quite telling...

This is where the progressive movement loses people... when they go on the attack over the mere hint of "engaging with the other side", and attack someone who's basically center-right at most (and doing so clearly not knowing his positions on things, basically...it's "anyone who's right of center, who has a lot of subscribers, and out-debates people from our own side must be a bigot"), that's going to turn a lot of people off to the message.
