Im back

I was wondering if Jenna gives anything on the arms?

She has a brief arm segment at the beginning, not much detail. I'd like to find something that would talk about the arms more, too.

Eventually I want to get some DVD that gives good arms! Geeez how long more will it take for my DVDs to get here? LOL

I guess thisis what I like in the "fusion" dancers like Sera Morgana and Rachel Brice apart from immaculate isolations- the use of arms!

I feel the need to practice the technique more but at some point it gets boring(well untill new dvds arrive) I want to try and make up my own combo's of the moves I'm comfortable with....

Geez I never knew that Rachel Brice had another DVD out! I realy wonder if that Arms and Posture one is any good! Could not find any reviews!!!

It isn't out yet -- Amazon says it's available for pre-order. I'm going to watch for reviews after it comes out next month.

Oh this is sooo silly of me! I havent noticed it was for pre-order only!

I do not think I would buy her yoga DVD.... I dont have patience for that I think... But I have been looking for smth for arms for ages....

Might have to wait till I go to England again.... If I order from overseas, like Amazon, the customs here charge soooo much that it turns out very expensive.... and of course it is not available here

Today I was doing shimmies to irish fiddle music...LOL It was quite nice! I would not belive it is possible untill I tried!

This is actually funny how I start belly dancing to any music available! LOL

Nope, no new DVDs yet.

I'm working on a new part of Jenna's DVD, though (I'm going through it gradually, waiting till I've mastered one part before moving on to the next). As you'll see when you get it, she's got this part where she teaches you footwork patterns and then shows you how to layer movement on top of the footwork. So I'm working on that. With Amira's DVD, the combination doesn't involve any layering -- it's just a series of different moves -- so it's good for me to learn a little bit before I try to move on to other combinations.

Oh, and I totally think you can belly dance to almost any music! I prefer Middle Eastern, but why not experiment and find other stuff? Awesome!

My DVDs are not here yet but tomorrow I will go to Post Office and check again....

Arfter watching lots of clips on youtube I decided that really like tribal fusion! I do not like the music but I like the use and flexibility of upper body!(Rachel Brice really reaches perfection at that). So my next DVDs are going to be Sera and Darshan- they bothhave silly music but good reviews and I really like the way they move! So one day I want to try to learn tribal fusion- and make my own fusion out of that LOL

I've been doing Jenna's combinations lately. I'm still not coordinated enough to follow some of the bits yet, but I'm hoping that repetition will help me get it all figured out. It's a great DVD.

I am currently listening through a bunch of songs to choose one or to to try to improvise to! Just to use a couple of simple lifts and slides and circles and sort of 'get the feel' of music- to see what moves go whell with what music.Havnt got my discs yet I wonder if they went missing....

Yeah that yould be so nice to discuss what we are lerning!Well I am going to give it some time still, but next weak gonna look into tracking.... We got packets stolen before.... just now managed to get insurance for the one that got stolen 6 months ago, which was very sad but now money came in handy to buy some clothes...lolBut unfortunately with DVDs it does not help to claim anything since i want the DVDs badly! Also the tax on "merchendise" is quite horrible, wonder what the customs gonnacharge me if the DVDs finally arrive...Today I practiced in front of the mirror and noticed that my posture is sooo bad(been strugling for years...) that actually makes it more difficult to do chest circles...

I finally got my parcel!!(Took it a while)

I really really could cry! The "Heartbeat of belly dance" is in there but the "Basics and Beyond" case was empty!!! When I opend the parcel I saw that the plastic on the "Basics" was damaged, while "Heartbeat" was well sealed. I cant belive they stole it! This is the 4th parcel that either gone missing or got "damaged".(we sent presentsto fiance's parents and the parcels got opened stuff taken out, or just never arrived).

So there goes our working together on the same DVD

This is soooooo frustrating since I cant attend dance class....

Well at least I got one disc and I like it lots! Gonna tell you more about it soon!!!

You're not interrupting! The whole purpose of this thread is to get to know other Christian bellydancers! Please bring up any topics that you want.

How long have you been dancing? Me, I'm still a beginner, learning at home from DVDs. But it's a blast -- I love it!

YAY other christian bellydancers!!!!!! Hello i am sorta new to bellydancing, ive been learning from videos off the net even though they are near impossible to find. Mostly i just watch shakira and then do my best to mimic what she is doing then look for some written instructions on how to do it. So far its been working for me, i can do a hip raise (obviously), a hip drop, move my hips from side to side without lifting them, do the thing where you move your chest up and down and around, and many other moves that i dont know the names of. Does anyone know of a good place to order good bellydancing DVDs?

Wow, I haven't been on for-EVER, but I just wanted to stop in! I quit going to my belly dance class (money issues) but I still love it. I think I'm going to get some DVDs to keep up and then when I have a little more money to throw around, I can join the class again.

I'm still not sure if it's Godly or not to dance, I know there's another thread, but....it's something I'll keep praying about!

Hey everyone! I have been away for a while! YAY I am soo happy! Jenna sent me "Basics and beyond" as a gift to replace the stolen one! YAY I am sooo happy! I really love her DVDs she is really clear in her explanations! Untill I get to class I am going to be practicing to her DVDs which I think have the best and easiest explanations and drills for beginners!
